Attractions are never far away in San Diego, wherever you may be staying. If you're lucky enough to be visiting La Jolla, you'll find many attractions less than 20 minutes away, whether you go north, east or south. And with San Diego's spectacular weather (a mild Mediterranean climate where the sun shines 70% of the time), you are free to enjoy indoor or outdoor activities at any time of the year.
In La Jolla itself, you can explore the Museum of Contemporary Art or the Birch Aquarium. Drive a little farther north in horse-racing season for an afternoon at Del Mar Race Track. Just up the freeway you can join a safari at the Wild Animal Park or a take a wine-tasting tour.
If you're a history buff, travel south to visit San Diego's Old Town and Presidio Park. Explore downtown San Diego's renovated Gaslamp Quarter and its many fine restaurants. Nearby you can also tour the Maritime Museum of San Diego, the Star of India, and the USS Midway Museum. From Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma, view San Diego Bay as Juan Cabrillo did when he sailed in in 1543.
If you love museums, you won't run out at San Diego's Balboa Park, with 15 in all, from art and aerospace to science and sports. Balboa Park also includes several restaurants and gardens and the adjacent San Diego Zoo, one of the best in the world. If you're a marine animal lover, Sea World is not far away.
In fact, wherever you turn, there are so many attractions in San Diego that you'll just have to come back for another visit!
