La Jolla Playhouse was founded as a summerstock theater by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire and Mel Ferrer in 1947. With over 300 local and national awards, including 30 Tony Awards, La Jolla Playhouse is now established as one of America's premier theaters for the diverse array of productions of classics, new plays and musicals at La Jolla Playhouse.
