About Ark Antiques For Animal Charities
In the early 70s, a small consignment store in Bird Rock was founded by Betsy Hillyer and Sheila Vardaman under the auspices of the San Diego Humane Society; since then, Ark Antiques has evolved into one of the largest antique resources in San Diego and one of the few whose proceeds benefit animal charities in Southern California. The success of the Ark has enabled it to contribute more than 1 1/2 million dollars to over 50 local animal charities in the last ten years. Ark Antiques accepts consignments twice a week. The Pricing Committee researches and evaluates consignments to determine prices and, when approved by the consignor, the items are placed on the sales floor. Donations are always welcome and encouraged. Larger items have to be pre-approved via email photos before being accepted into the store. You can help support the cause by donating, consigning, volunteering and shopping at the Ark located at 7620 Girard Avenue. Inventory is constantly changing and it is unlikely you'll see the same thing twice. They are open Monday-Saturday from 10am to 4:30pm.
