Evans School is another tremendous option as generations of La Jollans can attest. Located on Mount Soledad in a charming setting, Evans has a unique curriculum that challenges all facets of a child's mind. Evans is an elementary school and so you'll need to plan where to send your child for middle school.

For parents looking for k-12 options, consider the Francis Parker School. This nondenominational school offers great academic programs for college prep as well as a strong athletics program. In 2013 Francis Parker celebrated their 100 year anniversary. With lower, middle, and upper school classes, your child will be able to attend from their first years of school to their final years. They offer two locations, one for the early years in Mission Hills and another for middle school and high school close to USD. Parker is among the truly elite college prep schools but is unique in their focus on producing well-rounded students who can participate in sports, arts, music and much more during their time there.

Bishop's School is another one of the popular private schools in La Jolla. They offer schooling for children from 6th grade through grade 12. They have a great academics program along with a hugely successful sports and arts programs. It is very similar in reputation and stature to Francis Parker although the former is an Episcopal School. With a 9 to 1 student-teacher ratio, strong academics, a hugely successful and competitive athletics program and a unique focus on arts, Bishop's is a dynamic opportunity for children and parents alike.

There are several Montessori schools as well in La Jolla that have stellar reputations. Montessori Institute of San Diego is located over the YMCA, La Jolla Village Montessori is located in the village on Fay Avenue, and Montessori School of La Jolla is atop Mount Soledad. All three begin taking students as young as 18 months and since they each have outstanding reputations, one way to select from this group is by which location is most convenient.
