If you are a working parent, you know how important it is to make sure your children are safe and happily occupied after school before you can pick them up. Fortunately for parents, there are some excellent after school care programs offered through trusted local organizations and La Jolla schools.

1. La Jolla YMCA organization offers an educational and high-quality child care program for families in the community. Their staff includes child care teachers who are certified in Early Childhood Education as well as first aid and CPR. The La Jolla Y offers both full-day and part-day preschool programs, youth development programs, sports activities, and summer camps. 2. La Jolla Private Schools with Afterschool Programs:

Several private schools in La Jolla offer additional afterschool programs or hours. It's good idea to check with the individual school for exact hours and programs available. Most of them will allow you to book a tour online so you can visit in person and determine if the setting and hours are right for your family.

The Montessori Institute of San Diego on La Jolla Scenic Drive offers a holistic approach to early education, catering to the whole child in a peaceful environment. They offer three levels of education: toddler (18 months to three years); primary (three to six years); and elementary (six to nine years).

La Jolla Village Montessori School on Fay Avenue follows the same philosophy and offers full- or half-day educational programs five, three, or two days a week. They accept pre-school and kindergarten students and offer special art and science programs, an organic garden and summer camps.

La Jolla's Gillispie School on Girard offers early childhood through sixth grade education and includes a pre-school, kindergarten, elementary, arts center, science lab, library, gym, and two playgrounds. Their philosophy is "Nurturing futures, one child at a time."

These include French and math clubs, special after-school classes such as radio, glee club, computer lab and several sports such as tennis, soccer, football and basketball.

5. At Home After School Child Care in La Jolla:

Another option that is becoming increasingly more popular is in home after school care which takes place in the comfort of your own home rather than at a center or at school or somewhere else in town. Children are allowed to come home right after school and enjoy their typical comforts and familiarity while parents are happy knowing their child is receiving individual care.

At You Home Familycare is a local La Jolla after school care company specializing in this type of care. All of their employees are interviewed on site, required to submit to background checks, have all of their work and personal references verified, tested in appropriate training completion and certification, screened for past motor vehicle violations, and are required to maintain a drug-free lifestyle while employed by La Jolla Child Care provider At You Home Familycare. These rules and regulations save your family the time and effort associated with carefully sifting through potential providers while keeping the same strict standards you want when deciding who will care for you children.
