Restaurants in Hotels Feature Some of La Jolla's Best Dining
Three of La Jolla's best restaurants are located within La Jolla hotels. If you are meeting out-of-town visitors, or hosting an event such as a wedding party or family reunion, these restaurants offer double the appeal. You can enjoy a great meal and a convenient location. But you don't have to wait for visitors to arrive before sampling their award-winning cuisine.
Cusp in Hotel La Jolla is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, as well as happy hour and weekend brunch. Located on the 11th floor of the hotel, Cusp offers breathtaking views of the La Jolla coastline. Their menu features a mixture of traditional American and Mediterranean cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh seafood like grilled salmon crusted in Moroccan spices, roasted halibut, homemade pasta and fresh vegetables and flatbreads. Cusp offers a variety of special menus and what they call Daily Deals such as Heavy Metal Mondays (small bites tossed in cast-iron dishes) or Date Night Tuesday (free dessert with two entrees). The Family Meal Sunday is popular with locals and visitors, with family-sized portions of salad, soup, pasta and bread. You can also take advantage of early bird special dinners or appetizers and craft cocktails while enjoying the sunset over the ocean below.
If you love East coast, old-school Italian food and live jazz, then Manhattan in the Empress Hotel will appeal to you. Here in a casual but elegant setting, in the heart of La Jolla Village, you can enjoy traditional Italian fare such as antipasto, minestrone, pasta, award-winning veal, steaks, chops and seafood. The restaurant is noted for its classic cannelloni, signature scampi and homemade gnocchi alfredo, as well as its cocktails and desserts. Desserts include tiramisu, amaretto parfait, New York cheesecake, banana royale and homemade ice cream. Many surveys and polls have voted Manhattan one of the most romantic restaurants in La Jolla. Manhattan is open for lunch from Tuesday through Friday and for dinner daily.
Another excellent La Jolla restaurant in the heart of the Village is Nine-Ten. It is located in La Jolla's oldest hotel, the Grande Colonial, which will be celebrating its centennial in 2013. Nine-Ten is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. It specializes in what it calls California Eclectic or California Evolving cuisine, relying on locally-grown fresh produce picked daily and fresh seafood from our East and West coasts and Hawaii. Nine-Ten also offers special menus with fixed prices, accompanied by matching wines from their large wine cellar. The atmosphere is both casual and sophisticated and you can enjoy your eclectic meal in the dining area indoors or outdoors on the sidewalk patio or terrace.
