Great Appetizers at Rappongi's Restaurant in La Jolla

Nowhere will you find more delicious or reasonably priced appetizers than at Rappongi restaurant in La Jolla. During happy hour every day from 3 to 6 p.m., you can select from more than 20 tapas, all for half price. Order a few and split them with a friend or two, and you'll have enough for a light but satisfying dinner.

Rappongi's Asian-fusion, Pacific Rim cuisine has been winning awards since the La Jolla restaurant opened in 1998 at the corner of Prospect and Fay. The menu items bring together the tastes of Asia, Europe and the United States and are based on the freshest and most natural of ingredients, from produce to meats, poultry, and seafood.

If you are a vegetable lover or vegetarian, you won't lack for tasty tapa choices at Rappongi. Vegetarian appetizers include crispy quinoa cakes (with coconut curry, apples and mango curry), edamame (with sesame seeds), kefir cheese (with herb flatbread and masala spice), hummus, crispy tofu (with soy ginger and miso vinaigrette), papadam (crispy lentil wafer with mango chutney and cucumbers), crispy buttermilk onion rings, and miso glazed Japanese eggplant.

This La Jolla restaurant also has non-vegetarian tapas which include pork gyoza (a dumpling with mango chutney), spice crusted ahi, Hawaiian tuna (with wontons, chili and soy sauce), kung pao calamari, pan seared diver scallops, signature crab stack, duck quesadilla, spring rolls (with free-range chicken and hot and sour sauce), crispy tiger shrimp potstickers, Indonesian satay (chicken breast with lemongrass Thai peanut sauce), and Japanese Hot Rock (New York Steak with chili and sesame sauces).

All items on the Rappongi menu are made with locally sourced, organic and sustainable foods as much as possible. Poultry and meats are fresh and contain no artifical flavors, chemicals, preservatives, or hormones. The quality of the seafood, meats and produce is why Rappongi remains one of our favorite La Jolla restaurants. You can also ask for gluten-free food preparation if you have special needs.

Rappongi's tapa-filled happy hour is served in the lounge and on the patio. With so many healthy choices available, and at such reasonable prices, you'll not only save calories and money, you'll have to come back to Rappongi's restaurant La Jolla for more!
