Amaya Restaurant in La Jolla Delivers a Most Unique Dining Experience

One of the newest local restaurants is Amaya La Jolla. Amaya is located on Prospect Street and is the sister restaurant of Amaya at the Grand Del Mar. The cuisine and atmosphere are a combination of classical elegance and contemporary simplicity, relaxed yet refined.

Executive chef Camron Woods offers a modern American menu with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and a southern twist. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Woods enjoys bringing his southern heritage into his cooking, with dishes such as fried chicken, shrimp and grits, Carolina gumbo, smoked pulled pork, mini meat loaf and barbecued baby back ribs. It's no wonder locals and visitors love this La Jolla restaurant!

Before bringing his expertise to La Jolla, Woods was the executive chef at Amaya Grand Del Mar for five years and at the award-winning Four Seasons Atlanta. He has appeared on news programs such as KUSI TV's Good Morning San Diego and donated his time to charitable organizations, such as Mama's Kitchen and the San Diego Council on Literacy.

Amaya Restaurant in La Jolla is open for dinner every evening. Chef Woods' menu includes several appetizers (crab and lobster bisque, salads, scallops, quail), entrees (fresh seafood, pork chops, duck, veal, beef), and southern specials (a different entree each day, from fried chicken to meatloaf, all served with cheddar-herb biscuits, cornbread and deviled eggs). Amaya also serves more than 300 regional and global wines, several local handcrafted beers and a full menu of classic, signature and seasonal cocktails, including the La Jolla Martini, the Pink Lady Cosmo and the Coastal Sage.

If you're more in the mood for music and appetizers, you and sit back and relax in Amaya's lounge and bar area, featuring live music and your choice of drinks. (There is also a large-screen TV for sports fans.) Appetizers in this La Jolla restaurant's lounge area include tempura spicy tuna roll, smoked chicken quesadilla, half-pound Angus burger, crispy calamari, classic hummus, and a cheesecake sampler.
