How La Jolla's Real Estate Sign Laws Affect Your Sale Planning

Many La Jolla California residents are unaware of the fact the city passed a law heavily restricting the use of "For Sale" real estate signs and have established a task force to fine homeowners who don't comply. While this makes La Jolla neighborhoods more aesthetically pleasing, it does change the way people are exposed to properties for sale in the neighborhoods they would like to move to. Instead of happening upon a house for sale, stopping to get a flyer, and then calling to schedule a walk though, buyers are responsible for actively seeking out specifics locations and then combing through pages of listings.

The sign laws make it harder for owners who would rather sell their house without the assistant of a real estate agent. Home owners who don't intend to make use of a real estate agents and the marketing methods that come with that partnership have lost their main form of exposure. When you have a sign on your property announcing it is for sale you are marketing to every single person who drives or walks by. Without that you must find other avenues to reach potential buyers.

It also makes traditional print advertising of properties in magazines and newspapers as well as online listings on real estate websites and the promotional expertise of real estate agents more important than ever. Owners must now rely on their real estate agent's power of persuasion and a series of photographs and property descriptions to capture the charm, individuality, and livability of their homes. Often times, after a long period without any success, owners who originally wanted to avoid hiring a local real estate expert will decide to find one after all. It's possible that the law makes it harder to buy or sell a house.

The new sign laws have revolutionized the La Jolla real estate market by altering the ways people buy and sell homes. While it cuts down on vandalism to empty homes that are in between owners and makes the neighborhoods look tidier and well-maintained, it does make it difficult for people to forego real estate agents.
