Where Pest Control Meets Sustainability: Green Pest Removal in La Jolla

Green is the word of the day when it comes to everything. From green materials to green practices, everyone is doing their best to live life using more responsible methods and materials. Many businesses have also joined the eco-friendly, green movement. In fact, there are a variety of Green Pest Control products that are on the market and many of the companies listed in our Blue Book guide to La Jolla Pest Control Companies offer them.

Pest removal is unlike many of the other industries which can simply appeal to green consumers by abiding by a set green standard. Pest Control is unique in that it matters to the consumer how effective the green service is at removing pests. And so the question is how good is green when it comes to getting rid of termites and other destructive pests? The answer is as good as any other product, but with different application timelines and schedules.

Why Green is Different. Outside of the obvious differences between a green pest control product and a chemical one being that one is not toxic to the environment and the other is, there is another important difference. Most chemical products work on a kind of adhesive principle, where they may penetrate a surface but the product adheres to the structures around it. Many green products are more pervasive, and they are absorbed by the structure. This means that the surface protection will not last as long as the chemical product and require more frequent application, but it also means there is less chemical residue left out to be picked up by children and pets.

Beware of Green Scams. Possibly the most popular green scam is the use of ultrasonic sound devices for pest control. Some of them do work, but only for certain kinds of pests. Another popular scam is to simply label a chemical product as green and organic when it is anything but green. This often happens and unfortunately the companies that do this will also charge you more for the alleged green service. The best way to avoid being scammed is to choose a quality pest control company from our listings. These companies all have good reputations, current licensing and many local references they can share with you from La Jolla and San Diego homeowners like yourself.
