La Jolla Hotels for Golf Lovers

If you enjoying hitting a hole in one with the smell and sight of the ocean nearby, then you've come to the right golfing location in La Jolla. Two La Jolla hotels, the Beach and Tennis Club and the Lodge at Torrey Pines cater to golfers, the first with its own golf course and the second adjacent to the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course.

The Beach and Tennis Club is located on the oceanfront in La Jolla Shores. It is a membership club, but also a 98-room hotel with its own beach, 12 tennis courts, a tennis pro shop, a swimming pool, two restaurants, including the Marine Room, and a 9-hole golf course called the Spindrift. The Spindrift is a par-3 course suitable for golfers of all levels, from beginner to single-digit handicappers. It is open every day from 9 a.m. to sunset.

While you're enjoying your vacation at the Beach and Tennis Club, you can take advantage of the convenient golf course and on-staff golf pros to improve your game. The club offers a wide variety of lessons and clinics, complementary use of golf equipment and a putting green, chipping area and driving net. Lessons include a private video analysis of your performance, a junior academy for children of all ages, summer camp programs for children, and beginning and advanced level clinics for adults. For more information, call (858) 551-4653 or check the club's golf website link.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an elegant, 170-room hotel overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Designed in the warm California Craftsman style of architecture, the hotel has won many awards, including the AAA's Five Diamond Award and a "World's Best" by Sunset magazine. The Lodge attracts golf lovers from around the world both those who enjoy playing and those who enjoy watching the pros compete in championship games.

The Torrey Pines Golf Course is a municipal course, owned and maintained by the city of San Diego. It includes two 18-hole courses, the South Course and the North Course, both with magnificent views of the ocean and the Torrey Pines State Reserve. The North Course also offers a 9-hole game. The golf course also includes one of the largest golf shops in the West, where you can buy or rent shoes, clubs and other golf accessories. You can also book group or individual lessons.

When you book a special golf package at the Lodge, it includes a guaranteed tee-time on the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Several golf packages are available, with one or two rounds of golf included, as well as full breakfasts. You can also book your own golf tournament for groups of 16 to 144, for which the Lodge staff will serve food and beverages and even help you keep score. Should you want to take a break from golf, the Lodge offers many amenities, including a salt water swimming pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, a 9,500-square foot, full-service spa, two fine restaurants and a comfortable library with a big-screen TV, books and board games. The hotel also offers guided tours of the nearby Torrey Pines State Reserve.

For more information, call (858) 453-4420 or check the Lodge website.
