Best La Jolla Hotels for Celebrity Spotting

The city of La Jolla, called the jewel of Southern California, attracts big name celebrities year round. The city is home to such star-studded events as the La Jolla Playhouse's Annual Gala, the San Diego Film Festival, and various celebrity golf tournaments. So what does this mean? All these Hollywood icons need somewhere to stay! Here are the top three La Jolla hotels with the most celeb sightings.

La Valencia, also known as "The Pink Lady", has housed some of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry. Recently Black Swan star Natalia Portman wine and dined with her fiance and son in hotel's Mediterranean room. NFL superstar Troy Aikman has been spotted here on occasion and some have heard whispers of Madonna's name being mentioned. You're most likely to catch a glimpse of a celeb in the dining room during "off" hours.

The Grand Colonial has been a long time celebrity hideaway since its opening in 1913. Their popular semi-private room with a hidden entrance and exit is loved among the famous but make star sightings here less frequent. Early on the hotel attracted the likes of Groucho Marx, Jane Wyatt and Pat O'Brian and has since continued its tradition of Hollywood allure. Even if you don't see a celebrity during your stay at the beautiful hotel you will certainly feel like one.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is the place to see celebrity athletes, especially with a golf club in hand at the Torrey Pines Golf Course world famous 18th fairway. This beautifully expansive AAA five diamond hotel is a favorite among celebs that wants to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and hotel staff knows that mum is the word. If you don't see the stars on the putting green it'll be hard to catch them out and about. But that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy world glass dining and spa services!
