La Jolla Hospitals

While few of us would use the word fortunate to describe a required hospital stay, we are fortunate to have some of the best hospitals in the country in San Diego should we need one. And of these best hospitals in San Diego, at least four are located in La Jolla and the UTC area.

As you'll see by consulting our La Jolla listings of hospitals in San Diego, they offer a wide range of medical services and emergency care for men and women, military personnel, and children. These La Jolla hospitals include Scripps Health, a network of four hospitals and integrated clinics and medical centers, including Scripps Memorial Hospital and Scripps Green Hospital, both in La Jolla; Kaiser Permanente, a 392-bed hospital for short term acute care; UCSD Thornton, a 119-bed general medical and surgical hospital; and Sharp Hospital, a 368-bed hospital with a 24-hours trauma center and advanced emergency care and major transplant center.

For those in the military, our La Jolla listings of hospitals in San Diego includes the Balboa Medical Naval Center, which began in 1917 in tents and has grown into the largest military health care system in the western United States and the VA Medical Center, located on the UCSD campus in La Jolla and affiliated with the UCSD School of Medicine with one of the largest research programs in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

For children, our hospital directory includes Rady Children's Hospital, the largest children's hospital in California, with 442 beds and medical care in more than 12 specialties, from allergies and diabetes to cancer care and surgery.

Due to the high-cost and long waits associated with traditional emergency room care, a phenomenal alternative for La Jolla residents and visitors are the urgent care facilities found in our listing of hospitals serving La Jolla and San Diego. These Urgent Care facilities close to La Jolla can treat a variety of conditions, from bites and broken bones to infections and a preliminary assessment of heart problems.

Thanks for using La Jolla Blue Book to find local La Jolla information.
