Le Chauvinist on Fay Street is the only consignment clothing store in San Diego County devoted exclusively to men's clothing. Their inventory, also viewable online, is constantly changing and includes everything from aloha shirts and blazers to tuxedos and vests. If you're looking for a coat, a suit, a shirt, a hat, belt or shoes, or even a period costume, you'll find it here. The store also carries may new items, such as Panama hats, fun socks by Per Pedes, and silk pocket squares from J.S. Blank and Carrot and Gibbs.

Right next door you'll find Echoes Too Boutique, with vintage clothing and accessories for women of all ages. Here you can browse through a good selection of dresses, suits, designer jeans, scarves, hats, shoes and handbags and enjoy a friendly but not pushy staff of salespeople.

A little farther south on Fay, tucked in behind The Juice Kaboose, Second Act West offers a treasure trove of frugal but fashionable bargains. From the front, the store seems small and you'll be surprised and the size and selection of items once you step inside. Second Act's inventory includes dresses, suites, blouses, pants and jeans in all sizes, purses, belts, hats and a large collection of jewelry. The staff is very helpful if you want advice on putting together an outfit or if you're bringing in clothes to sell.

A newer consignment store for women in La Jolla is Vintage Hollywood Consignment on Ivanhoe Avenue. The La Jolla clothing store offers something for everyone, including designer dresses and suits, a large selections of jeans and jackets, shoes and accessories. Designer brands include handbags by Louis Vuitton, shoes by Chanel and clothing by Dolce & Gabana. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will take special requests if you want to be put on a waiting list for a specific brand or product, as well as help you sell your own merchandise.

Another popular vintage clothing store, Take 2 Ladies Consignment Boutique, is located south on La Jolla Boulevard, next to the Travelodge and across from the Holiday Inn Express. Not surprisingly, it is often frequented by visitors and locals alike who love the search for a good clothing bargain, or maybe several bargains. Take 2 was opened in 2011 by a husband and wife team from London, England. They carry a full inventory of gently-used clothing, designer handbags, and accessories from names such a Louis Vuitton, Prada, Coach, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Christian Louboutin.

Finally, if you're willing to drive a few miles north of La Jolla Village, you'll find two large consignment shops, My Sister's Closet for women, and Well Suited for men, located in the Costa Verde Shopping Center on Genesee Avenue. The two stores are part of a chain in Arizona, where they have many locations. Their inventory is extensive and you can either browse in the stores or shop online. For women, My Sister's Closet sells designer apparel, handbags, jewelry, scarves, belts, hats, shoes and sunglasses. For men, Well Suited sells resale apparel including accessories, belts, designer suits and shirts, jewelry and watches, luggage, briefcases, shoes, sunglasses, ties and tuxedos.
