La Jolla Welcomes All Faiths

La Jolla is a community that welcomes individuals of all faiths and denominations. Learn more about the different denominations, their history and relationship with the local community and which La Jolla churches offer you opportunities to participate in weekly and monthly activities.

The Lutheran denomination is one of the oldest Protestant Christian traditions, dating back to the Protestant Reformation and the person of Martin Luther. For those who follow the teachings of Martin Luther, consider participating in one of the events hosted by La Jolla Lutheran Church. In addition to their weekly Sunday morning service, they have an after-service where healing prayer is available. If you are interested in learning more about the Lutheran faith, bible study and discussion takes place at the church at 6:30pm on Wednesdays.

Another celebrated denomination in La Jolla is Presbyterian. The roots of the Presbyterian Church trace back to John Calvin, a 16th-century French reformer. The teachings of Presbyterian are fairly similar to those of the Lutheran denomination as they agree with the doctrines of original sin, justification by faith alone, and the priesthood of all believers. La Jolla Presbyterian Church values relationships with one another and with God, and invites its followers to be involved with the church. Specifically, the church hosts a mens bible study, a womens fellowship and a senior ministry. There are also weekly and monthly childrens activities as well as youth programs.

Serving the La Jolla community, the Christian Science Church has a Sunday service, Sunday school and a Wednesday testimony meeting. Each hour long service includes readings from the King James Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Members of the congregation share their healing through prayer stories during the testimony meeting.

For years, faith has been a major part of La Jolla and the tradition continues today. Many people from different backgrounds and denominations gather together in La Jolla to celebrate their beliefs. The above are only a few denominations and churches found in La Jolla, so be sure to check out our church directory for more information about local services and events.
