Why Volunteer at Your Local Church
For some, church is a one-sided experience. They attend regularly and receive all the benefits, yet they never give anything of themselves. But this isn't what church is supposed to be about. Church is a community in which everyone should be actively involved, both giving and taking. It might not seem obvious to all church-goers, but one of the best ways for both personal and spiritual growth is to volunteer at their local La Jolla church.
No matter what the size of your church, all churches in La Jolla need and could benefit from volunteers. Churches are not businesses and cannot rely on only paid employees. They need members like you to volunteer and help foster the sense of community is needed. The church, its community and its members will all grow stronger as more people become active and volunteer.
A church and its community aren't the only ones who benefit from volunteers. The volunteer also benefits greatly. By helping his or her church, the volunteer has the chance to grow stronger both personally and spiritually. The different opportunities for volunteering include: greeting fellow members, teaching Sunday school, cleaning up after an event, and preparing food and refreshments for a church activity. These are just a few examples, but each of these jobs gives the volunteer the opportunity to meet their fellow members while helping the church and also growing stronger spiritually.
The next time you go to church, look around and notice all the different people volunteering. Look at their smiles, and realize the simple pleasures they receive from helping their church. All churches need volunteers, so why aren't you one of them? You already know the answer. When you go to church this Sunday, step up to the plate and become a volunteer!
