Escape to a world of seascapes with “Wind & Sea,” featuring new and original mixed media works by local artists: Stephanie Paige, Alison Haley Paul & Ben Hecht at the Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery La Jolla. The ocean-themed art show kicks off with an artist reception on Saturday, August 20th, 6pm to 9 pm.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Stephanie Paige, a local San Diegan, is a nationally-renowned abstract artist. Stephanie creates large scale layered textured pieces of art by combining marble dust plasters, iron and copper paints, patina, rusting effects, sand, glazing, and recycled materials. Stephanie describes her art as, “Meditative and Peaceful that is inspired by Mother Earth.” Don’t miss her only hometown show this year.
Alison Haley Paul, originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, is a local contemporary painter. Alison attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where she majored in Art and Design. Her mixed media contemporary landscapes and seascapes conjures up connotations and geographical memories: like the perfect summer day at the beach or the path up the hill behind school. The places she paints may not be physically specific, but they are immediately recognizable. Alison is inspired by, “the colors and textures of nature. It is the art and majesty of the natural world that continues to feed my creativity.”
Ben Hecht, a native San Diegan, is a local mixed media artist. He combines aerial photography, encaustic (beeswax) paint, and resin mixed media. Ben attended UC Santa Cruz where he received both a B.A. in Fine Arts and an M.A. in Education. Through the unexpected combination of mixed media like aerial drones imagery and beeswax, “…Hecht is able to gain a perspective on the natural world that is immediate and recognizable yet foreign and mysterious.”
