St. Patty’s Day Swim

La Jolla Cove
Join the La Jolla Cove Swim Club in their annual St. Patricks Day swim at 9 AM at La Jolla Cove. A fun non-competitive swim. Bring Shamrock goodies to share! The club will provide coffee, muffins, and a few other treats as well. Throw on a bathing suit and head to the Cove (8008 Girard Ave) on Saturday for a brisk morning swim!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival
Saturday March 14, 10:30am
Downtown San Diego
The parade will begin on Fifth Avenue and Laurel Street downtown. See bagpipers, floats, marching and equestrian units, clowns, representatives from Ireland, antique cars, and more. The theme of this year’s parade is “Celebrating Faith and Freedom.” Following the parade, the Irish Festival in Balboa Park will feature live entertainment, crafts, food, beer gardens, and more.

St. Patrick’s Party at Mary Star of the Sea
Saturday March 14th, 6:00pm
Mary Star of the Sea Church: 7669 Girard Ave., La Jolla 92037
So Fine on Kline presents the 3rd annual St. Patrick’s Day party at Mary Star of the Sea. Join the church for a delicious Irish-themed dinner from 6-7:30pm; corned beef and cabbage, plus salad and dessert for $30 per person. Entertainment will be from 7:30- 10:30pm for a $20 cover charge per person. There will be a cash bar with beer, cocktails, and soft drinks; don’t miss the raffle later on in the evening.

St. Patrick’s Day Half Marathon
Sunday March 15, 7:30am
Race begins at Main Street & Magnolia Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020
Dress in green theme and join the other St. Patrick’s Day running enthusiasts in burning calories before (or after) the imbibing festivities! Race participants 21 and older also receive entry into the all-day East County Craft Beer Invitational that same day.

36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Open Reading of Irish Poetry & Prose
Tuesday March 17, 7pm
DG Wills Books: 7461 Girard Ave., La Jolla 92037
Members of the public are invited to read selections from James Joyce, William Butler Yeats, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Fingal O’Flaherty Wills Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, Sean O’Casey, Edmund Burke, and more. Messrs. Guinness and Harp will officiate the proceedings.
