Springtime is in full swing, and San Diego is celebrating the beauty of this season. Whether you’re looking to be outside in nature, or to have an Easter egg hunt, we have you covered with a weekend packed-full of activities. Have fun!
10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the La Jolla Recreation Center
The La Jolla Recreation Center located at 615 Prospect St. will host its annual Spring Egg Hunt on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. For the price of a fast food burger with the works, or a mere $5, attendees will partake in the egg hunt and other associated Easter activities such as arts and crafts and, wow, get this, a meet and greet with Peter Rabbit. What kid doesn’t like Peter Rabbit!?
R.B. Stevenson Gallery will be presenting new paintings and drawings by Los Angeles artist Charles Arnoldi. The exhibition will open on Saturday, April 15th. and will remain on view through May 27th, 2016. An opening Reception will be held on Saturday, April 15th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Season runs through May 14), Carlsbad Ranch
The well-renowned Flower Fields in Carlsbad Ranch continues its vibrant spring run, offering visitors outstanding views of bright blooms in all of their stunning and elegant glory. The fields are open each and every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and runs through May 14, 2017. Patrons will delight in nearly 50 full acres of colorful displays of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, which are in bloom for only six to eight weeks. Ah, the short life of a flower! The celebrated fields also include various roses, orchids, sweet pea blossoms, petunias and poinsettias. Be sure to maintain any changes on the Flower Fields website, too, because Flower Field introduces special events throughout the bloom season. You simply have to see these blooms to marvel at nature’s unmatched beauty!
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., San Diego Botanic Garden
Running through the end of April at the San Diego Botanic Garden is “Sculpture in the Garden,” a magnificent and stunning display of 53 sculptures from 32 regional artists set against the backdrop of a lush garden. Visitors can use a map provided by the Botanic Garden and enjoy a self-guided tour of the various works of art. The exhibit is included with general admission into the garden. Adults are $14, $10 for seniors, students and active military, and $8 for children ages 3 to 12. Kids two years of age and under get in free. Parking is available on-site for $2.
2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday & Saturday) at The Westgate
San Diego’s premiere hotel, The Westgate located in downtown San Diego will be hosting some kid-friendly tea sessions along with traditional egg hunts this Easter weekend. The quaint Easter Bunny Teas take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Children will be thrilled to snack on mini pastries and kid-approved petit-fours paired with traditional European afternoon tea. Traditional Easter egg hunts will commence on the Riviera Terrace and children will have an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny. The tea sessions are priced at $50 for adults and $35 for kids 12 and under, exclusive of tax and gratuity.
9 a.m., Santee Lakes
Patrons will want to be sure to bring the entire family out to Santee Lakes this Saturday for the 14th Annual Eggstravaganza! The community event begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. The Spring Eggstravaganza features continuous egg hunts for kids 8 years of age and under. In addition, the annual event features carnival rides, can’t miss pony rides, crafts, Primo DJ and additional fun for one and all no matter what age. And don’t fret about the cost because the event is always free!
