Trilogy Sanctuary, located at 7650 Girard Avenue in La Jolla, officially opens for business August 7! Its all-in-one spiritual approach means they have a ton of services to offer, from yoga classes (including Aerial Yoga and 7 other varieties) to healthy smoothies and a vegan-friendly menu, complete with delicious vegetarian desserts.
The Philosophy Behind Trilogy
Trilogy Sanctuary is owned by Joe Caldera and Leila Dora. Joe has been in the holistic industry for over ten years and has his own counseling and spiritual coaching business. Leila has been a Yoga teacher for 4 years and is a qualified nutritional counselor. Trilogy was born from their desire and passion to share their knowledge and help to spread health, joy, good food, positive spiritual practices and good exercise to the world. They believe very strongly that in order to find true healing, one must address the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being; their Sanctuary is part of a plan to help others unite “the trilogy” – mind, body, and spirit.

The Sanctuary has an outdoor yoga deck as well as an indoor studio and offers a variety of classes ranging from beginner all the way up through advanced:
True to its name, during Aerial Yoga you’ll spend more time in the air than the ground. The class focuses on building strength and stamina and involves a lot of core work; the hammock they use acts as a wonderful tool for all sorts of strength building exercises and will help you build the strength you need to move onto more performance based skills on both the aerial hammock and aerial silks. All levels are welcome.
This safe and welcoming class is a great place to start with your yoga practice. The instructor has a degree in pre-physical therapy so she can accommodate those with injuries who need modifications. The class will break down the poses and focus on correct alignment, breath, body awareness and mindfulness.
Vinyasa (they offer level 1 and 2 classes) is an intermediate practice introducing more advanced asanas. Each class begins with pranayama and moves through a breath-to-movement flow. Vinyasa Flow classes offer dynamic movement coupled with safe alignment, breath, and continuity of awareness.
No experience necessary, is suitable for beginners. Ashtanga offers fundamentals that help build and maintain body heat. Participants will focus on breathing, stretching, improving flexibility, building strength & endurance; also introduces arm balance & inversion postures.
Yinki is a special class combining Yin Yoga and Reiki. Each class begins with centering breath-work, mantra and meditation. Certified Reiki practitioners will infuse you with Reiki (universal energy) as you open into the connective tissues of the body through Yin Yoga.
Balance & Restore
This is an all levels class and is especially good for beginners or those who like a more gentle practice. A slower-paced class that pays special attention to breath, alignment, and self care. THe class explores both a dynamic and static practice, encouraging adaptability and release of expectations.
They offer one free drop-in a week. The rest are paid and can be bought in packages of 5 or 10 or monthly, which starts at $70. They are currently having a new member special: pay $59 for one month (unlimited classes) or $35 for two weeks unlimited. They also hold regular dance and meditation classes. For a full schedule of their classes, check their website at trilogysanctuary.com.
Vegan Cafe & Juice Bar
Their vegan cafe boasts an extensive 100% organic, vegan and gluten free menu: salads, bowls, wraps and rolls, natural smoothies and juices (they have juice cleanse regiments available that will ship right to your door), nachos, veggies and fresh dips, and a collection of delicious desserts like key lime pie, lemon mousse, and carrot cake.
Rooftop Lounge Space
To top everything off, they have a 2000-square foot roof terrace complete with cozy lounge seats, big leather sofas, and beautiful wooden tables – all with views over the rooftops to the ocean. It’s definitely a great place to hang out and eat with friends or use their WiFi to get some work done while sipping on a fresh pressed juice.
