THE LOT, San Diego’s newest luxury movie theater, is quickly becoming known amongst locals for fantastic food, comfy armchairs, and weekly specials. THE LOT La Jolla opened September 2015 and a new location, THE LOT Liberty Station opened May 5, 2016 (pictured at top).

THE LOT’s Orgins

THE LOT luxury theater is the newest business venture from cinema entrepreneurship expert Adolfo Fastlicht. Fastlicht’s skills and business sense are proven by the successes of Mexico’s Cinemex and international Cinépolis luxury theater chains, both of which he co-founded. Only in business for less than a year, THE LOT is fast outpacing its competitors in popularity with locals, who cite its close location and high-quality dining as important factors.

Fastlicht explains the reasoning behind THE LOT’s fresh focus on excelling in multiple directions. “We’re not only in the premium cinema business, but the lifestyle business,” he says, highlighting THE LOT’s combination of a well-reviewed stand-alone restaurant, good location, and layout. “Ours is more like a boutique hotel.”

Special at THE LOT

THE LOT houses not only screening areas but an independent restaurant, bar, and indoor and patio seating areas. Guests are treated to nightly “Music Under the Stars” concerts outdoors, with fires lit in the patio fireplaces and comfy wicker chairs. New at the La Jolla location include weeknight food specials:

  • Monday – Ceviche Night
  • Tuesday – Taco Tuesday
  • Wednesday – Italy at THE LOFT

If you’re looking for one of the best ticket deals in the area, go on Tuesdays when all movie tickets are $10! THE LOT is open at Liberty Station at 035 Truxtun Rd and in La Jolla at 7611 Fay Ave.
