One of the most highly anticipated car shows of the year, the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, returns Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12 – a weekend that will mark its 11th anniversary in La Jolla.
The event has a reputation for showcasing some of the world’s most exquisite automobiles; past years have featured horseless carriages, Italian marques, British marques, Woodies, 50’s classics, American sports cars, and the automobiles of the beloved Carroll Shelby. This year’s theme will be “Celebrating Coachbuilt Classics of the 30s and 40s.”
The term Concours actually comes from the French word for “a crowd or confluence of things” or simply “a park promenade.” The word has always alluded to elegance and grandeur and to this day still calls to mind the image of sparkling coaches and glistening groomed horses. The La Jolla Concours continues to embody that old world spirit today.
From the mobile Tour d’Elegance to the official Concours on Sunday, the city will come alive with vintage beauty and timeless classics. Needless to say, over the years the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance has become an absolute must-see for car lovers everywhere.
The La Jolla Tour d’Elegance will motor through the city on Saturday, and the Concours will take place on Sunday when spectators will be able to view more than 300 vehicles situated along the grounds above the Cove and near Scripps Park. General admission tickets are $40 in advance and $50 day of, and include two tastings from a wine and craft beer garden as well as a commemorative program. Children under 14 years of age are free. The Concours will take place from 9am – 4pm at Ellen Browning Scripps Park (1133 Coast Blvd, La Jolla 92037).
La Jolla Blue Book is a proud sponsor of this event! We will be there throughout the weekend and will have a booth set up outside all day on Sunday; stop by for a chance to win some goodies!
