La Jolla & San Diego Weekend Events: June 2nd & 3rd

A lot of you kids are fresh out of school (congratulations to our grads!) and the summer spirit is beginning to fill the air! Here’s some fun weekend activities coming up.

All Weekend: San Diego Fair 

It’s that time of year again! We’re happy to announce that the Del Mar Fairgrounds opens this weekend. Carnival rides, games,  delicious food and contests will be all over the grounds. Get your tickets! The fair runs until July 4th.

Saturday, June 2nd : Boardwalk Craft Market

The 25th annual Boardwalk Craft Market will take place this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will feature contemporary artists with different uses of media. Guests will also be able to purchase the great artwork!

All Weekend: Gaslamp Artisan Market
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fifth Avenue
Go check out the new Gaslamp Quarter’s Fifth Avenue between Market Street and Island Avenue and let us know what you think! Pop through different restaurants and shops, and explore the new exciting area!

Sunday, June 3rd: Guided Nature Walk 9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside! Take a free guided 1.5 hour nature walk from Mission Trails Regional Park. Along the way you’ll learn about animals, plants, and history of this park in San Diego.

Mission Federal ArtWalk
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday), Little Italy
Come check out 17 blocks of the Little Italy neighborhood for the 34th Annual Mission Federal ArtWalk. Over 350 artists from across the world will be showcasing at this festival. Don’t miss it!

Tango by the Beach
5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Pacific Street Linear Park
Do you Tango? Well you’re in luck! Come tango right by the shoreline this weekend at Tango by the Beach. Lesson begin at 5pm.

Sunday, April 29th

Awesome 80s Run
6:30 a.m., De Anza Cove
Roads? Where we’re going we… actually, we might need some roads. Come participate in the Awesome 80s Run! Proceeds for this 5K or 8K race will go to the Free Hugs Project to promote peace and unity and Honor Flight San Diego.

7th Annual Chocolate Festival
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Maritime Museum of San Diego
Calling all chocolate lovers! This is your day! The Maritime Museum’s 7th annual Chocolate Festival is here. Learn about the history of chocolate, attend cooking demonstrations, drink wine, and… eat chocolate! Only $25.00.

Taste of Hillcrest
12 to 4 p.m., Hillcrest

Foodies rejoice! The annual “Taste of Hillcrest” is here! With a $30 ticket ($35 day of) to Taste of Hillcrest, guests can enjoy signature dishes from more than 35 of Hillcrest’s popular restaurants. Get your appetite ready!

Moonlight Family Movie Night: ‘The Princess Bride’
7:30 p.m., Moonlight Amphitheatre

It’s movie night! Grab some friends and a blanket and head over to Moonlight Amphitheatre for an outdoor movie night. They will be playing the classic 1987 movie, “The Princess Bride.” Tickets range from $5 for lawn seating (lawn chairs provided) to $10 for orchestra seating. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. but the theater will open at 6 p.m.

Sunday, April 15th

Beyond the Score: Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27
2 p.m., Copley Symphony Hall

Get dressed up, and enjoy a night out at the symphony! This series of multimedia concerts showcase performances such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s final piano concerto. Don’t miss this truly unique experience. Tickets start at $25.

South Bay Earth Day
11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Chula Vista Marina at Bayside Park

Come celebrate mother Earth! This South Bay festival is one of the largest Earth Day Events in the region. Learn about how we impact the environment, and how you can live greener. Activities for the day include yoga classes, an oil change and free recycling kits.

La Jolla Concours D’Elegance
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,

La Jolla and La Jolla Motor Car Classic returns to the Cove April 6 – 8, 2018 featuring 300+ spectacular vehicles situated along the Pacific Ocean.

Sip ‘n Savor Fest
12 to 4 p.m., Hard Rock Hotel

Enjoy food and drinks from local restaurants, breweries and, and live music from great bands. It’s only $45 a ticket to the Sip ‘n Savor Festival, and guests will be able to sample 10 creations by local chefs, including Chef Ashley Kato of JSix and Chef Andy Weiss of The Smoking Gun.

Weekend Events: March 24th & 25th

It’s the first full official weekend of spring, and activities are all over San Diego and La Jolla. Don’t miss out on the springtime fun!

Saturday, March 24th: 

San Diego Crew Classic
7:20 a.m. to 5 p.m. (3:30 p.m. Sunday), Crown Point Shores Park
Get ready to row, or get ready to watch the rowers do their thing! More than 4,000 athletes will be in San Diego for this annual two-day rowing competition. Tickets are $12 per day ticket, or $15 at the door.

Spring Eggstravaganza
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday), The Birch Aquarium
It’s springtime! Celebrate in a big way with the arrival of spring with the Birch Aquarium’s animals of the sea. You will have chance to explore different types of animal eggs, participate in crafts and an “underwater” egg hunt. Tickets for the Spring Eggstravaganza are free with an $18.50 adult or $14 child admission ticket.

Sunday, March 25th:

It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and San Diego is the place to be. Whether you want a weekend full of St. Paddy’s activities or other events, we have you covered!

Saturday, March 17th:

ShamROCK
4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Gaslamp Quarter

Get your green on, and get ready to celebrate the ShamROCK Saint Patrick’s Day Party at Gaslamp. Blocks will be closed downtown, and three separate DJs will be performing on three different stages. You can anticipate so Irish celebrations, including Celtic performers, Irish dancers. Tickets are $55 or $100 for VIP, which includes complimentary drinks and more.

35th Annual San Diego Cake Show
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday), The Del Mar Fairgrounds

Do you have a sweet tooth? Well, you’re in luck! The 35th, Annual San Diego Cake Show is taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Come celebrate all things cake! This festival will include cake making, a cake design competition, and decorating demonstrations. Tickets are $10 ahead of time, or $12 at the door. Proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House.

Sunday, March 18th:

Tango by the Beach
5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Pacific Street Linear Park

It takes two to tango, so grab a partner and head on over to Oceanside. Tango by the Beach is  taking place at 112 The Strand South- just steps from the ocean! Don’t miss it.

The Importance of Being Earnest
7 p.m., The Old Globe Theatre The Old Globe

The Old Globe Theatre proudly presents Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The story follows Jack and Algernon, a pair of bachelors attempting to maintain fictitious personæ to escape burdensome social obligations. Performances run at various times through March 4; with ticket prices varying by day.

Saturday, January 20th:

2nd Annual Women’s March San Diego
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Waterfront Park

Grab a pair of sneakers and get ready for the second annual Women’s March. This peaceful demonstration will make efforts to bring attention to the 2018 elections, highlighting the importance of voting. Attendees include local leaders such as Toni Atkins, Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher, Susan Davis, Shirley Weber and more. The 1.29 mile route begins on the west side of Waterfront Park, and ends at West Ash Street.

Hillcrest Classic Car Show
1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Pride Park

After you finish up with the march, head over to Hillcrest for a Classic Car Show. At least 20 proud car collectors will be showcasing their classic models to Pride Plaza. Free and family friendly.

Sunday, January 21st:

Guided Nature Walk
9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside! Join a a Mission Trails Regional Park trail guide on a free, 1.5-hour nature walk. The walk begins at the Visitor Center and will head out to one of three scenic trails: The Oak Grove Loop, The Visitor Center Loop, or The Riverside Grinding Rocks. Family friendly & educational! Bring good walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, and any other necessities.

San Diego Restaurant Week

It’s the (second) happiest time of year! San Diego Restaurant week is here! From January 21st – 28th, 180 participating eateries will be making customers across San Diego very happy. Restaurants will be offeing special prix fixe lunch and/or dinner menus featuring two to three courses. Prices and specials vary. Bon appetit!
