With Thanksgiving right around the corner, San Diego area events are picking up steam as we rush pell-mell into the holiday season. Grab your honey, a fistful of money, and if you have some kiddo’s, bring ‘em along as well as you get out and attend several promising events this weekend. San Diego Asian Film Festival

It’s that time of the year again, as the 18th annual San Diego Asian Film Festival kicks off and continues its spectacular run. The film fest showcases the absolute largest exhibition of Asian American cinema in the entire western United States, from future classics to incredible indie flicks. In excess of 150 films from 20 countries are on tap this year and will be screened through Saturday, November 18th. The screenings take place at six venues throughout San Diego, including: UltraStar Mission Valley; San Diego Natural History Museum (Kaplan Theater); UC San Diego Price Center Theater; Marriott Mission Valley; Digital Gym Cinema; and the Museum of Photographic Arts. Tickets to individual screenings will only set you back about $12. Alternatively, you can snag a 6-pack of tickets for $60, which may be used for all screenings except for closing night flicks. SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration

Here’s a great event for the kids and the young at heart. Make all your spirits bright at this family favorite Christmas event! SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration is a holiday not to be forgotten, complete with seasonal bargain hunting, festive food and drinks, and of course, spectacular live shows. Mrs Claus will be on hand during story time, and the youngling’s can share their wish list and snap some pics with Santa at Santa’s Cottage. 71st annual Mother Goose Parade
Sunday, 1 p.m., El Cajon
Come out with the kids and join former San Diego Padre Randy Jones, the 1976 Cy Young pitcher and 2017 Grand marshal of the 71st annual Mother Goose Parade this Sunday at 1 p.m. Understanding the value of unity, family bonding, and social togetherness that are designed for all ages, races and ethnicities, the Mother Goose Parade Association organizes 12-months a year, the Mother Goose Parade, the largest event of its kind this side of the good ‘ol Mississippi. The parade is rich in history, character and entertainment, and has thrilled and enchanted kids of all ages for in excess of six decades. This year like every year, the parade kicks off on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and announces the commencement of the holiday festivities. Watch clowns, bands, float and dignitaries completely free as the parade begin at El Cajon and Main Streets and proceeds east down Main! Arrive early with your folding chairs and grab early parking.
Global Winter Wonderland: ‘Circus of Light’

Can you really think of anything more exciting for the family than 17 acres of holiday festivities? The Circus of Light makes its way south from the state capitol of Sacramento and hits San Diego for the very first time this holiday season, setting up at SDCCU Stadium from November 19 through November 26th. The ultimate in family-friendly international celebrations presents the largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China, breath-taking acrobatic performances, a host of fun carnival rides, holiday-themed activities, plenty of games, mouthwatering food and, what else, awesome shopping! Your tykes and teens have an opportunity to jot their letters to jolly Santa and stop by and peep out Toyland, Candyland and the North Pole. Global Winter Wonderland will open daily at either 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m., but is closed on some days. Tickets are available online or at the gate and cost a mere $22 for big kids (adults), and $19 for tykes aged 4 to 12 or senior citizens age 62 and older. Tots age 3 and are free.
