Saturday, June 22nd:

Gospel Festival
11 a.m., San Diego County Fair (Coors Light Rock On Stage)
The brightest and best in the genre of gospel music hit the San Diego County Fair for this all-day festival Saturday. The Clark Sisters headline at 7 p.m.; that concert is free – in certain sections: standing-room general admission floor area, and 3rd and 5th levels – as long as you’ve paid for admission into the fair. The other ticket tiers for the Clark Sisters show range from $19 to $44.R&B Block Party

40th Annual OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off
10 a.m. to 8 p.m., 4800 to 5000 Blocks of Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach
It’s a summertime tradition in Ocean Beach: the OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off, and oceanfront food and music block party as unique as the community. The free fair features music across four stages, a community mural project, a showcase of local artisans and an unforgettable Hodad’s Burger-Eating Competition that’ll give hungry contenders the chance to land their mug on the iconic “Wall of Fame” at Hodad’s, OB’s iconic burger joint. Also on deck: brews and live music at Beachside Bar for those 21+, a wing eating contest hosted by Dirty Birds, and a music area hosted by Rock & Roll San Diego where professional musicians will teach visitors how to play simple songs. As for the legendary Chili Cook-Off, well, that includes 20 tastings in both amateur and restaurant divisions, beginning at 11 a.m., all competing for top honors. The event takes place along several blocks of Newport Avenue, along the waterfront. The longtime fair draws a healthy crowd, so you may want to consider taking the trolley or using a ride-share service to get there. There’s free bike valet at the intersection of Bacon Street and Newport Avenue, too.

Sunday, June 23rd:

Saturday, June 15th:

25th Annual Taste of Gaslamp
1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Gaslamp Quarter
It’s time for the Annual Taste of Gaslamp! Now celebrating it’s 25th go around! Some of San Diego’s best downtown chefs be cooking for the occasion as foodies (you) get to casually go from spot to spot trying out all of the bites. This year, participating eateries include Barleymash, Café Sevilla, Havana 1920, Royal India, The Field Irish Pub and Tocaya Organica. That’s just to name a few, folks – there’s 30 spots on the list. General admission tickets cost $45, and check-in starts at 12 p.m.

R&B Block Party
5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Quartyard
Quartyard will be hosting this R&B Block Party Saturday night as San Diego starts to bring in the summer. This event is 21+, and will feature DJ Alonzo Tha Mayor and DJ Mr. Bogart, with a special guest performance by Nikki T. The party is free is you RSVP ahead of time online and arrive before 7 p.m. Otherwise, cover cost is only $5.

Get ready to laugh! The Emmy-winning comedian, actor and author Jim Gaffigan will headline the Corona Grandstand Stage Saturday night at the San Diego County Fair. The  show starts at 7:30 p.m.; tickets start at $50, if you have already paid for your fair admission.

C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Screwtape Letters’
4 p.m. and 8 p.m., Balboa Theatre
See the stage adaption of C.S. Lewis’ satiric masterpiece “The Screwtape Letters.” The production takes place stage at Balboa Theatre twice Saturday – at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets start at $42.50.

Yoga in the Rotunda
8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., San Diego Museum of Man
Get ready to say “namaste right here.” This teacher-led yoga class will take place at the historic rotunda inside the San Diego Museum of Man in Balboa Park. A one-hour session is open to all levels of yogis; Be sure to bring your own mat, towel and water. Tickets cost $10 for non-members (purchase ahead of time online) or $5 for museum members.

Souleil Season 9 Opener
4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Quartyard
Now in its 9th season, Downtown San Diego’s cool community venue, Quartyard will host its opener of Souleil, a summer-inspired music and DJ series. General admission tickets cost $15.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

San Diego’s Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Cabrillo Memorial Drive is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. The cemetery  is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Legacy Week at USS Midway: National Moment of Remembrance
3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., USS Midway Museum Flight Deck
The USS Midway Museum remembers country’s fallen heroes on Memorial Day by partaking in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. on the flight deck. General admission tickets to the USS Midway Museum (ahead of time online) costs $22 for adults, $9 for retired military, and $9 for kids ages 6 to 12. Kids age 5 and under get in free.

La Jolla Weekend Events: 5/18 & 5/19

This Mother’s Day weekend at Searsucker Del Mar Highlands will feature a succulent wreath-arranging workshop for moms and their little ones (recommended agesare 6 to 12). The workshop is led by Rain to Roots, and includes all of plants and materials needed to create a 12-inch wreath for mom and a 6-inch heart-shaped wreath for the little one. Tickets are only $56.50.

Rooftop Cinema Club Presents: ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

She’s back! The 2018 Emily Blunt-led sequel to the classic tale of “Mary Poppins”  will take over the big outdoor movie screen Saturday on rooftop at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Watch the flick, or watch the beautiful views of the San Diego skyline. Tickets start at $17.

If you’re looking for an authentic Cinco de Mayo fiesta in San Diego this Sunday, look no further than Old Town San Diego- it’s the place to be!. The landmark will throw its annual, three-day Cinco de Mayo party this weekend, beginning Friday night, and then from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This free festival will offer live music, dancing, wrestling matches, a car show, and more. What’s to not love?!

Party Like Gatsby San Diego
7 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., The Observatory North Park
It was the best of times, and it was… well, the best of times. The Gatsby-themed party will be making a stop at The Observatory in North Park Friday night. The event includes live performances, and of course a lot of dancing. Attendees are encouraged to dress to the nines in their best 1920s gear. Tickets cost $44.

Saturday, April 20th:

Easter Bunny Teas at The Westgate Hotel
2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Westgate Hotel
Put on your Saturday best folks, and over to Westgate Hotel with your little ones for an Easter-themed afternoon of Parisian-inspired tea service! This is called the “Easter Bunny Tea,” and includes kid-friendly sweets and sandwiches and, well, tea! Just be sure drink with your pinky out. There will also be an egg hunt on the Riviera Terrace, followed by a magic show starring the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $79 for adults and $55 for children age 4 to 12; kids age 3 and under get in free. Special event parking at the hotel costs $12.

Silent Disco Yoga
10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Hospitality Point in Mission Bay
Get your Saturday-Night Fever yoga pants on, and party like John Travolta. This yoga session Hospitality Point in Mission Bay will surely make your weekend. Instructors will guide yogis through a one-hour class while DJs play the tunes. Students can choose which DJ they want to get down with, and this event is only $5 – $10!

Easter at The Prado

Happy Easter! Come celebrate at The Prado in the heart of Balboa Park. They will be offering their Easter Dining option this Sunday, a champagne brunch buffet with seating from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Guests will get a carving station, a chilled seafood display, a pancake station and more. The buffet costs $65.95 for adults, and $17.95 for kids ages 6 to 12. Kids under 5 will be able to eat free. Call ahead for reservations at (619) 557-9441, ext. 1.

Easter at The Del
Times Vary, The Hotel del Coronado
Feeling festive for Easter? Then head over The Del, where they will be hosting their  annual fancy Champagne Easter Brunch. This will take place in Crown Room, boasting regionally-inspired dishes, made-to-order mimosas, a colorful dessert bar, and of course live musical entertainment. After brunch, walk over to the Windsor Lawn for an egg hunt. This year’s event will also include a petting zoo and family photos with the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At $140 for adults and $65 for kids age 4.
