La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California is located on the UCSD college campus at 2910 La Jolla Village Drive. The venue was established as a summerstock theater by none other than Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire and Mel Ferrer way back in 1947. In essence, the venue is a cultural San Diego landmark. Additionally, La Jolla Playhouse boasts of over 300 local and national awards, including 30 Tony Awards. La Jolla Music Society

La Jolla Music Society is known for producing world-class symphony orchestra San Diego events and classical music productions. They present many internationally-known artists throughout the year, and have quickly earned its place as one of San Diego’s major classical presenters of symphony orchestra music. They are also responsible for a wildly popular summer concert series and chamber music festival called SummerFest in La Jolla. Taking place throughout August, La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest features over 70 world-class music artists and has been a huge hit as a San Diego concert series for more than 15 years.

San Diego Symphony

San Diego Symphony is the oldest production organization in the city. Its talented members perform professional productions numerous times each year in Symphony Hall San Diego. The San Diego Symphony conducts performances in the charmingly lavish Copley Symphony Hall located at 750 B Street in downtown San Diego. The Symphony is comprised of 80 full-time members in the expansive orchestra, but dependent on the music being performed, additional professional musicians join in. If you are in the Balboa Park area, another fantastic venue is The Old Globe Theatre located at 1363 Old Globe Way. Most people are not aware of the fact that The Old Globe Theatre is the longest established professional theater in California, not to mention the oldest professional theater in the entire country. Long commended for its timeless classics, The Old Globe Theater has recently been praised for its world premieres as well. Each and every summer, The Old Globe Theatre sponsors its countrywide celebrated Shakespeare Festival, a series of events that are a must see.
