I would like to preface today’s Burrito Review by apologizing for last week’s lack of one. I have an excuse: we were too busy to leave the office and had no time to eat lunch, let alone ponder the merits of its texture, serving sizes and spiciness. Then I made a second kaboozle, after missing my fix last Friday, by binging on burritos from Monday through Wednesday this week, which has rendered my critical faculties blunt and encumbered. Honestly, I might grow a tortilla exoskeleton if I eat another burrito in the next twenty-four hours.

The Cottage’s New and Improved Cinnamon Roll

The Cottage in La Jolla, known for their popular breakfast and lunch menu, is reintroducing their famous cinnamon rolls with a new and improved recipe. The Cottage achieves the perfect balance in thick, soft, moist, warm that will literally melt in your mouth cinnamon rolls and La Jolla Blue Book was there to taste it all.

The cinnamon roll is back on the menu after being absent for a few years, but we recommend you get there early as only a dozen of them are made daily. The rolls are big enough to share with someone but we won’t judge you if you don’t and neither will The Cottage.

Friday Burrito Review: Porkyland

Today’s ‘Friday Burrito Review’ took our team of tortilla connoisseurs to Porkyland, over on 1030 Torrey Pines Road. It’s an unpretentious place with a cool name and a few big awards darning the walls of their establishment: their laurels include ‘Best Burrito’, ‘Best Mexican Food’ and ‘Best Chicken Quesadilla’, among others, for the last five years. Seeing this impressive list of prizes while waiting in line only raised my expectations for the lunch program and had me hoping for a flavor bonanza I’d be doing cartwheels about all weekend.
