From 1:30pm to 5pm on Sunday, December 7, enjoy the spirit of the holidays and celebrate the changing of seasons with the village! For the past 57 years, the La Jolla Christmas Parade has been a staple of the La Jolla community and a large part of what makes the holidays in our town so special. Beautiful floats, costumes, and talented marching bands join forces in what continues to be one of the most incredible traditions in our community.
If you’re cooking up a whole meal for the family, it’s important to prepare food that everyone can eat, from kids to seniors. Maybe this year you have a handful of kids with finicky tastes or perhaps you need to cook for your aging loved one with the help of a home health care caregiver. That’s why we have a list of the top three, no-fail Thanksgiving Day side dishes.
Homemade cranberry sauce. This is a great side because not only is it a Thanksgiving Day classic, it extremely easy for children and aging adults to eat. For Grandma Erma’s Spirited Cranberry Sauce from Southern Living stir together 2 cups of sugar, ½ cup of Port and ¾ cup of water in a saucepan. Then add 4 cups of fresh cranberries and bring to a boil. Cook over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes and let it cool for 15 minutes. Next, pulse the cranberries in a food processor 4 times and then add ¼ cup orange liqueur and voila! Chill for 8 hours before serving. Continue reading
