Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is one of the most important holidays in Mexico and a highly anticipated holiday even in the United States. Celebrations take place over the entire weekend (October 31 – November 2) and consist of a variety of activities to honor the deceased: many build private altars called ofrendas and decorate sugar skulls. The popular La Jolla Halloween event – Pillage The Village – will be held on Friday, October 30th, since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. During Pillage the Village in La Jolla participating businesses will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters from 3-5pm.
