It’s no secret that San Diego has exploded into the craft beer scene in recent years; it’s been called the “Craft Beer Capital of America” and with more than 25 breweries just in the city limits alone, it’s home to some of the best beers in the world. The city’s very first brewery (aptly named The San Diego Brewing Company) opened its doors downtown back in 1896. Big names like Karl Strauss, Ballast Point, and Stone dominate the market, but there are countless other smaller craft options.
Looking for a new beer tasting tour? Check out La Jolla Brewing Company, one of the up-and-coming San Diego breweries. In December, new owners revamped the La Jolla Brewhouse on Fay Avenue with a modern look, brand-new menu and most importantly, locally crafted beers. Now called the La Jolla Brewing Company, it hopes to be a destination point in San Diego’s ever-growing craft beer community. There are 24 beers on tap and five beers are made in-house and named after La Jolla landmarks we all know and love.
