From outdoor film showings to free concerts and organ festivals, Balboa Park never fails to have a fantastic summer event lineup. Beginning this month, the Park will kick off a series of weekly summer 2014 events in Balboa Park that are perfect for the entire family.
Twilight in the Park: Summer Concert Series
From June 17 to August 28, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:15pm to 7:15pm, the Park will hold a series of concerts in the Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

Free Summer Films in the Park
June 21: Frozen
July 26: The LEGO Movie.
The films begin at dusk and will be shown at Morley Field. Be sure to bring a blanket and some hot chocolate – it can get a little breezy in the evenings.
Summer International Organ Festival
The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 27th annual Summer International Organ Festival, featuring world-class organists and the incomparable Spreckels Organ! Concert are every Monday night beginning at 7:30pm, June 23rd through August 25th. All concerts are free of charge!
Monday, June 23: Anthony Newman, America’s foremost Baroque interpreter described by Wynton Marsalis as “The High Priest of Bach.”
Monday, June 30: Monte Maxwell, Chapel Organist and Director of Chapel Music and the Midshipmen Symphony Orchestra at the United States Naval Academy, with special guests Navy Band Southwest.
Monday, July 7: R. Jelani Eddington, award-winning theatre organist who has toured throughout the world.
Monday, July 14: Wyatt Smith, passionate rising star of the organ world and graduate student at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, joined by soprano Priti Gandhi.
Monday, July 21: Robert Plimpton, San Diego Civic Organist Emeritus and resident organist at the First United Methodist Church.
Summer Shakespeare Festival at the Old Globe
June 22 – July 27: Othello by William Shakespeare
August 10 – Sept. 14: The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare
July 12 – August 10: Into the Woods, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine
July 25 – August 24: Quartet by Ronald Harwood
Subscriptions to the Globe’s 2014 Summer Season range from $92 to $332. The Old Globe is located in San Diego’s Balboa Park at 1363 Old Globe Way. There are numerous free parking lots available throughout the park; valet parking is also available ($10).
