A big name is coming to downtown La Jolla! The popular North Park eatery StreetCar Merchants of Fried Chicken, Doughnuts & Coffee is expected to move into the 4,000-square-foot space on Prospect Street (previously occupied by Amici’s Restaurant), complete with an outdoor patio.

The North Park spot, which launched in 2014, confirmed the expansion and is aiming for an opening date of early September or sooner. The new location will be a “luxe” version of the original StreetCar, occupying a significantly bigger space with a capacity of 150 – and additional menu options.
The core items will still be available, as well as milkshakes and treats from their sister eatery Milk Bar, but new items will include gluten-free fried chicken, oven roasted chicken, traditional Southern dishes, and salads. The Prospect Street restaurant will also offer table service in addition to a full bar program that will kick in shortly after opening.
StreetCar’s current menu includes a variety of fried chicken options, chicken and waffles, and southern-inspired sandwiches. They’re located at 4002 30th St. in San Diego’s North Park.
