San Diego Weekend Events | Sept 9 – 11

There are plenty of ways to enjoy San Diego’s beautiful sunshine, from a Blues Festival to mowing down on Burgers and Beer and celebrating Brazil in Pacific Beach! Here’s the rundown of our top San Diego weekend events. Be sure to check websites/ticket availability prior to attending. 

Fleet Week Party at the Pier

When: Friday Sept 9; 4:30pm-7:30pm
Where: B Street Pier
What: Kick off Fleet Week with a fun-filled evening on the waterfront! Live music and entertainment, food trucks and a beer garden. Fleet Week is a celebration that honors the men and women of the military through public events and alliances that support and thank these heroes throughout the year. Events like the Coronado Speed Festival, Enlisted Golf Tournament, Sea & Air Parade, and Miramar Air Show are always sell-outs, so get your tickets early!

Brazilian Day Festival

When: Saturday Sept 10; 11am-7pm
Where: Pacific Beach (Garnet Avenue)
What: With over 60,000 attendees expected, this is known as the largest Brazilian festival on the West Coast. A free, fun and family friendly festival, activities include a street fair with more than 150 vendors, food court, kids zone and a special carnivale parade complete with floats. Two stages for bands and performing groups from Brazil will be set up, as well. Come celebrate in the “Rio de Janeiro of North America!”

San Diego Blues Festival

When: Saturday Sept 10; 12pm-8pm
Where: Embarcadero Marina Park North
What: Since 2011, the Blues Festival has been bringing great music to the community. This year, Grammy winners Los Lobos will headline the event and be joined by Blues Hall of Fame member Bobby Rush, Nikki Hill, Watermelon Slim and others. The lineup features nine acts over the course of Saturday covering a broad spectrum of blues styles. All proceeds benefit the San Diego Food Bank and the North County Food Bank.

Burgers & Beers

When: Saturday Sept 10; 1pm-4pm
Where: Golden Hill Park
What: Join the search to find the best burger in San Diego! Try gourmet burgers from more than 30 of the best restaurants as they compete to win the “Best Burger” award. Each attendee will be given a token to place in a voting box on the table of their favorite vendor. While you eat and relax in the sunshine, there will be live music, great beer, and more! Your ticket includes unlimited burger tastings from all vendors and one drink ticket (good for a beer or other beverage).

Cardiff Greek Festival

When: Sunday, Sept 11; 10am-10pm
Where: Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Cardiff-by-the-Sea
What: Be Greek for the day and enjoy authentic food, music, live entertainment, dancing, children’s activities and more for the entire family at the Annual Greek Festival held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Check out the Marketplace, which is meant to replicate a traditional Bazaar with Greek imports, fine jewelry, artwork, Greek Deli specialty food items, a selection of special Greek wines, and more.

Coronado Art Walk

When: Sunday, Sept 11; 10am-5pm
Where: Coronado Ferry Landing
What: The 11th anniversary of the Coronado ArtWalk is here! Browse paintings, hand crafted jewelry, photography, ceramics, woodworking and other mediums as you stroll through the festival. Other highlights include participation by the Coronado Ferry Landing’s restaurants, galleries and shops, and musical entertainment from the Ferry Landing Stage as well as free art activities for young and old alike. The event is free and open to the public.
