A beautiful October weekend is upon us in San Diego! There are plenty of family friendly activities happening, plus a few Oktoberfests to check out both days. From an art walk to an outdoors festival in Little Italy, here are our top five San Diego weekend events! As always, please be sure to check ticket availability prior to attending any event.
When: Oct 7; 5pm-8pm
Where: Downtown Oceanside
What: Downtown Oceanside is coming alive with vibrant arts, performances, music, poetry, activities, food, and fun for the entire family. Held on the first Friday of each month, the Oceanside Art Walk returns to showcase the community’s thriving art district. This free, all ages event includes live performances, music, poetry, art education, culinary arts and pop-up galleries throughout local business and public spaces in downtown Oceanside. There will be plenty of food options and activities to keep the kids busy.
When: Oct 7 & 8; 11am-11pm
Where: Foot of Ocean Beach Pier
What: This 12th annual two-day eclectic, beachside festival will include a variety of exciting activities, contests and entertainment with proceeds benefiting local non-profit organizations. Take part in the 5th annual OB Brat Trot on Saturday morning, then kick back with a bunch of German microbrews and authentic German food. There will be free beachside musical performances by an OB Oktoberfest band, along with a food and craft vendor area on the Veterans Plaza lawn. The beer garden entertainment will also include live music.

Where: Girard Avenue, La Jolla 92037
What: The 8th annual La Jolla Art & Wine Festival comes to the Village this weekend! Don’t miss one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in Southern California. Featuring the works of over 150 established artists from all over the world, the LJAWF features something for everyone including a silent auction, roving entertainment, a gourmet marketplace, a family art center, and a wine and beer garden which will include choices from premier wineries in addition to San Diego’s top breweries.
When: Oct 8; 12pm-4pm
Where: Old Town San Diego State Park
What: Old Town San Diego is kicking off the fall season October 8 with its annual Fall Festival. A pumpkin-carving demonstration will take place starting at noon in the plaza along with musical entertainment and face painting. Craft activities will include pumpkin painting, corn shucking, and making corn husk dolls in a specially decorated Harvest Home. Participating merchants in the state park will also have craft activities inside their stores.
When: Oct 9; 10am-6pm
Where: Little Italy (India & Date Streets)
What: The streets of San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood will be filled with over 120,000 visitors from all over the world to pay tribute to the Italian heritage and culture that created this iconic neighborhood. The event will feature Italian food, al fresco dining, authentic Italian music on three difference stages, a Sicilian flag procession, street stickball and bocce ball tournaments, Gesso Italiano (Italian Chalk) and more.
