Halloween is just around the corner, San Diegans; though events for the holiday aren’t quite in full gear yet, there is a lot happening throughout the city this weekend. San Diego Italian Film Festival
When: Friday Oct 17, 7:30pm
Where: La Paloma Theatre (Encinitas); Museum of Photographic Arts (Balboa Park)
What: Immerse yourself in the delicious Italian culture at this year’s San Diego Italian Film Festival. Friday night features screenings of two award-winning Italian films: “La Grande Bellezz” (“The Great Beauty”), which tells the story of a frustrated writer caught up in his social whirlwind lifestyle, and “Anni Felici” (“Those Happy Years”), where a 70s housewife rethinks her life after attending a feminist retreat. The film festival runs through Oct 25.
Sea & Food Festival
When: Saturday Oct 18, 2pm-5pm
Where: Hotel Del Coronado; 1500 Orange Ave, Coronado 92118
What: Hotel del Coronado’s Sea+Food festival will be full of delicious local seafood, BBQ, fun retro blues, and specialty drinks on the beachfront Windsor Lawn. Chefs will be preparing delicious, fresh seafood dishes at interactive stations throughout the event including Lil’ Del BBQ, smoked oysters, a raw bar with sashimi, and a clam bake station. Craft beer, wines and spirit tastings are available. The Whitney Shay/Robin Henkel Extravaganza will be playing throughout, featuring a blend of blues from the 1920s to 1960s.
Suzie’s Farm Pumpkin Palooza
When: Saturday Oct 18, 10am-4pm
Where: 2570 Sunset Avenue, San Diego 92154
What: Join Suzie’s Farm for Pumpkin Palooza, their annual Pumpkin u-pick event. Along with more than 10 varieties of pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, there will be live music, a costume contest for the kids, pumpkin carving station, food vendors, including God Save the Cuisine, The Meat Men, Calexico Creamery, and Cafe Virtuoso.

San Diego Comic Fest Masked Ball
When: Saturday Oct 18, 8pm-11pm
Where: Town & Country Resort and Convention Center; 500 Hotel Circle N., San Diego 92108
What: San Diego Comic Fest hosts its 2nd annual MASKED BALL,
in the Town & Country Hotel’s Garden Salons! Come out for dancing, drinks, dance games, and raffle surprises at the end of the evening. If you wear a costume, entry is only $5; general admission is $10 and for registered Fest attendees, entrance is free. Costumes are hugely encouraged (especially of the masked variety), and cosplayers are welcome! Embrace the Halloween spirit and get into costume for this one-of-a-kind event.
11th Anniversary San Diego Walk Now for Autism Speaks
When: Sunday Oct 19, 8am-1pm
Where: Liberty Station, 2640 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego
What: Experience the power of thousands united by autism at the 11th anniversary San Diego Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Liberty Station. Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this fundraising effort generates vital funds for autism research and raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism, the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder, and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the opening ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m.
