San Diego Weekend Events | Oct 14 – 16

We’re heading into Halloween in San Diego, but there’s plenty to do this weekend with the family first! Wine and dine at the La Costa Film Festival, get a “taste” of North Park, and enjoy an outdoor fall festival at the Shores. La Costa Film Festival

When: Oct 13 – 16
Where: Omni La Costa Resort & Spa
What: The 4th Annual La Costa Film Festival offers the ultimate experience in a true destination festival! This coveted jewel in North San Diego County is known for gorgeous beaches, ideal year round climate, and unlimited sports options. You’ll enjoy gourmet farm to table cuisine, award winning craft beers, and boutique wineries. Film-lovers will enjoy a broad and impressive slate of films, ranging from documentaries, features and shorts. There will also be a special sports film competition with a celebrity panel of judges this year.

Taste of North Park

When: Oct 15; 11am-3pm
Where: University Ave & 30th Street, San Diego
What: Taste of North Park is back and bigger than ever! Grab a ticket and take a self-guided walking tour as you sample food from over 50 restaurants and sip craft beer from 15 local breweries (with 4-oz samples). Enjoy specialties from North Park’s well-known favorites like Urban Solace, WayPoint Public, Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream, and West Coast Tavern; in between courses stop into participating galleries and boutiques. If you haven’t experienced the new places to hit the North Park dining scene, this is your chance!

San Diego Kids Expo & Fair

When: Oct 15 & 16; 10am-5pm
Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds
What: The San Diego Kids Expo & Fair is part businesses and non-profits on display, part fun fair and part music and dance festival. And definitely all kids! Expect to see 150 local and national companies, a bunch of live exotic animals in Animal World, a large Fun Fair with plenty of outdoor activities, a cooking expo area, and more. Meet karate instructors and soccer coaches, see music schools and swim instructors, and talk to modeling agencies and all kinds of businesses that are fun for kids.

La Jolla Shores Fall Fest

When: Oct 16; 3pm-6pm
Where: La Jolla Shores (Avenida de la Playa)
What: An afternoon of fun, good food and live music presented by the La Jolla Shores Business Association! Bring your family, friends,and colleagues to join the Village for a “Party on la Playa” with restaurants like Galaxy Taco, Osteria Romantica, Barbarella, ShoreRider, Marine Room and Piatti offering a sample of their menus. Receive goodies from the surf shops, boutiques and businesses down the street. There will also be a bouncy house for kids, face painting, train rides, as well as live music from Hullabaloo and Steel Drums from Island Sounds.

Escondido Grand Avenue Festival

When: Oct 16; 9am-5pm
Where: Grand Avenue, Escondido 92025
What: Since 1989, the Escondido Grand Avenue Festival has brought live entertainment, over 500 vendors, children’s rides and activities, and food from around the world to the downtown tree-lined streets of Escondido. Covering seven blocks along historic Grand Avenue, the Escondido Grand Avenue Festival is the second largest single-day fair in California. Stop by this family friendly event and see what Escondido has to offer!
