The nights are cooling off, the days are getting shorter, and we’re heading into the holiday season; San Diego is gearing up for another fall and there is no shortage of fun things happening around the city. From opening day of Bing Crosby Season at the Racetrack to the 9th annual Taste of University Heights, these San Diego weekend events are ones you won’t want to miss.
San Diego Beer Week Kickoff: Guild Fest
When: Friday Nov 7, 6pm – 9pm
Where: Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, 1000 N Harbor Dr., San Diego 92101
What: San Diego Beer Week is a 10-day celebration inspiring people to drink local, craft beer and promoting San Diego’s thriving brewing culture with multiple events happening across the county. Guild Fest is an exclusive event on Friday evening that will showcase San Diego’s finest, rarest, and specialty beers from local breweries, including offerings brewed just for the event. All-inclusive tickets include unlimited beer samples throughout the evening coupled with unlimited food samples from local craft beer-friendly restaurants.
Bing Crosby Season Opening Day
When: Friday, Nov 7
Where: Del Mar Racetrack; 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar 92014
What: The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will present its first “Bing Crosby Season” starting Nov 7 led by a veteran team of racing officials. The season, which carries through to Sunday, November 30, pays tribute to the glamour and excitement of 1930s when Hollywood icon Bing Crosby founded the track with some of his celebrity pals. The Bing Crosby Season will run a total of 15 racing days – primarily Thursday through Sunday – with an earlier daily post time of 12 p.m. on weekends and 12:30 p.m. on weekdays.

ART San Diego Contemporary Art Show
When: Saturday Nov 8, 12pm – 8pm
Where: Balboa Park, 2145 Park Blvd, San Diego 92014
What: Taking place at the Balboa Park Activity Center, Art San Diego is one of the biggest contemporary art fairs in Southern California. More than 80 leading galleries from the USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia will be taking part in this art extravaganza; in addition to gallery booths, special features include gallery-curated exhibitions, contemporary furniture design, “Spotlight Artists” and more.
When: Sunday Nov 9, 10am – 4pm
Where: 7700 and 7800 blocks of Girard Avenue, La Jolla 92037
What: This event is a great opportunity for the community to get a first-hand look at this seasons holiday gifts and decor; shoppers will be among the first guests to buy and browse holiday selections from a large group of Girard Avenue merchants. Each business will be celebrating the holiday spirit with store drawings, food, refreshments, music, book signings and demonstrations, gift ideas, and old-fashioned friendly service.
Taste of University Heights
When: Sunday Nov 9, 12pm – 3pm
Where: 1735 Adams Ave, San Diego
What: The 9th annual Taste of University Heights event is both a creative and culinary arts celebration The Taste of UH is a self-guided walking tour of over 16 delectable delights that showcases mouthwatering cuisines from prominent restaurants and eateries. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of. The University Heights Arts Open (noon-4) is one-of-a-kind FREE event that celebrates art and features painters, sculptors, potters, and musicians.
