From the start of San Diego Beer Week to an art walk and a four-day contemporary art show, there’s plenty happening in America’s Finest City this weekend. Here’s our roundup of the five best San Diego weekend events! Please be sure to check ticket availability prior to attending any ticketed events.

What: San Diego Beer Week is a ten-day celebration that encourages people to drink local and promotes San Diego’s thriving brewing culture with events across the county. San Diego is now home to more than 120 breweries and has gained an international reputation for brewing award-winning beers, and with the popularity of craft beer on the rise, San Diego is poised to be the capital of craft beer tourism in the United States. Come out and celebrate our newfound status! The event is put on by the San Diego Brewers Guild. Ticket prices vary; check website for schedule details.
When: Friday, Nov 4; 5pm-9pm
Where: Liberty Station; 2640 Historic Decatur Rd.
What: Experience everything the Arts District has to offer is by attending a free Friday Night Liberty art walk! This fun outdoor event takes place on the first Friday of every month from 5-9pm and has become San Diego’s biggest free monthly art event. Get the chance to meet working artists, enjoy dance, theatre and music performances, visit museums and galleries and explore the growing District. Visitors can start their stroll at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center at Liberty Station.
When: Fri, Nov 4 – Sun, Nov 6
Where: Balboa Park Activity Center
What: Art San Diego is a four-day contemporary art show featuring an international slate of artists and galleries. The show features over 500 leading contemporary artists, museum exhibitions, art labs, events, and talks focused on collecting. Art SD will also launch the third exhibition of the Open Walls Project in October and November. This year, one artist will be chosen to create work that will go up on ten separate billboards, telling a cohesive story based on the show’s theme.

When: Saturday, Nov 5; 11am-5pm
Where: 321 N Broadway, Escondido 92025
What: Presented by the Escondido Downtown Business Association, the Escondido Tamale Festival, an official San Diego Beer Week event, is a celebration of Tamales and all the great Latin foods that have become iconic staples of California’s culture. Enjoy a variety of traditional, gourmet, and vegetarian tamales along with craft brews, wine, and food trucks. There will be live entertainment and contests throughout the day. This is an official SDBW event!
When: Sunday, Nov 6
Where: Start at Buddha’s Light Bookstore/Tea Room on Park Blvd.
What: Get a better taste of all the spots you love from your favorite University Heights spots at the 11th Annual Taste of University Heights this Sunday! Red House Pizza, Big Front Door, Park & Rec, Lestat’s, Twiggs Bakery and Coffeehouse and more will be attending the festival. Stroll through the quaint neighborhood sampling bites and then enjoy a free self guided tour of the arts. Pick up your taste ticket at Buddha’s Light Bookstore and continue the tour from there – a free shuttle will be available for guests. Tickets start at $20.
