San Diego Weekend Events | Nov 18 – 20

It might still be November, but true to form, holiday activities are already happening around San Diego. Luckily, for those of you who aren’t ready to celebrate the Holidays quite yet, there’s plenty else going on in the city! Here’s our top five San Diego weekend events.

Holiday Lighting in Santee

When: Friday, Nov. 18; 5:30pm-8:30pm
Where: Santee Trolley Square; 9884 Mission Gorge Rd.
What: Santee will kick off the holiday season Friday night with a Holiday Lighting party at Santee Trolley Square! The event includes live music, arts and crafts for the kids, a mini express train, a petting zoo, snow sledding, food vendors and photos with Santa for $12. The event itself is free, but some activities may cost a small fee. Don’t miss the tree lighting ceremony, which happens at 6:15pm sharp.

Reggae Fest with Iration

When: Saturday, Nov. 19; begins after last horse race
Where: Seaside Stage at the Del Mar Racetrack
What: After the last horse race of the day in Del Mar, head over to the Seaside Stage for Reggae Fest featuring the hit-making SoCal-by-way-of-Hawaii group, Iration. The band’s catchy, relaxed tunes will have you feeling the Aloha vibes in no time.

Grand Tasting at the Bay Wine & Food Festival

When: Saturday, Nov 19; 12pm
Where: Embarcadero Marina Park North
What: The Grand Tasting is the grand finale of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, and will boast 30 gourmet food companies, 150 wine and spirit purveyors pouring more than 700 different wines from a range of domestic and international wineries. In addition, more than 60 of San Diego’s top chefs will take the spotlight, serving up their finest fare. A “Chef of the Fest” competition will determine the winner, with one chef walking away with up to $50,000 in cash and prizes.

70th Annual Mother Goose Parade

When: Sunday, Nov. 20; 1pm-3pm
Where: El Cajon Blvd & W Main St, El Cajon 92020
What: East County’s annual holiday kick-off celebration features whimsical floats, clowns, bands and equestrians! Each year, the Parade attracts thousands of spectators to the streets of El Cajon. Expect to see spectacular motorized floats, glorious marching bands and drill units, eloquent equestrians, animated clowns, special characters, special guests, performing artists, celebrities, giant helium balloons, specialty vehicles, and of course, Santa Claus.

Adelaide’s Holiday Open House

When: Sunday, Nov. 20; 10am
Where: Along Girard Avenue, La Jolla
What: Kick off the holiday season with La Jolla’s annual Holiday Open House! Look for the green and gold balloons along Girard Avenue and stop in participating stores for treats, singing performances, Caroling, appearances by Santa, and photo ops. This is a great way to get a kickstart on your holiday shopping! All merchants will be donating 10% of their sales from that day to local charities. Join La Jolla in this 30-year tradition on Sunday.

Pizzapalooza

When: Sunday, Nov. 20; 11am
Where: Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier
What: Are you a Deep Dish diehard or do you prefer a classic California crust? No matter what your pizza preference, this pizzapalooza has it all! Some of San Diego’s top pizza makers will make their most popular pies at multiple pizza tasting sessions. Plus, for the thirsty, there will be mixology and craft cocktail stations. Tickets cost $55. The event is part of the San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival.
