San Diego Weekend Events | Nov 14 – 16

San Diego Beer Week is winding down, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival is kicking off, and one of the city’s first holiday tree lightings are all happening this weekend! Check out our list of the top San Diego weekend events for November 14-16.

1. Meeting of the Guilds: SD Beer Week Edition

When: Friday Nov 14, 6pm – 10pm
Where: Toronado; 4026 30th Street, San Diego 92104
What: For the first time in SD Beer Week history, three California brewers guilds will join forces for one giant tap takeover! Be part of the official Meeting of the Guilds! This event is designed to showcase all that these organizations have to offer (with a touch of friendly competition, of course). Taste your way through a selection of SD Brewers Guild, LA Brewers Guild, and SF Brewers Guild breweries (15 representatives for each) and cast your vote to see who will inherit the prized Golden Keg! 2. Shine On: Annual Tree Lighting Event

When: Friday Nov 14, 6pm – 7pm
Where: Westfield UTC; 4545 La Jolla Village Dr, San Diego 92122
What: Visit Westfield UTC for the annual lighting of their 30′ Christmas tree and Santa’s arrival! Located near the Pottery Barn. Enjoy live entertainment by La Jolla Country Day Upper School Jazz Combo, holiday tunes by Horizon Prep Christian Middle School Choir, and San Diego Ballet’s Sugar Plum Fairy.

3. San Diego Asian Film Festival

When: Saturday Nov 15, 1pm
Where: La Paloma Theatre, 471 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas 92024
What: San Diego’s largest film festival and premier showcase of Asian cinema presents a full day of film screenings at the historic La Paloma Theatre. Screenings include the family friendly HELLO! JUNICHI; YASMINE, the first film ever produced in the nation of Brunei; offbeat documentary THE SEARCH FOR WENG WENG; and the premiere screening of UZUMASA LIMELIGHT including a Q&A with the filmmaker. 4. Ellen Browning Scripps Annual Luncheonsan diego weekend events

When: Saturday Nov 15, 11:30am – 2pm
Where: La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club; 2000 Spindrift Drive, La Jolla 92037
What: Hosted by the La Jolla Historical Society, this annual event commemorates one of La Jolla’s most famous community philanthropist, Ellen Browning Scripps (1836-1932). Please join us in honoring the memory of this extraordinary La Jollan whose legacy enhances all of our lives and community every day. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Molly McClain (Professor of History, University of San Diego, co-editor of The Journal of San Diego History). The lecture this year will be “When Women Ruled the World.”

5. Beer Garden, the Finale of San Diego Beer Week

When: Sunday Nov 16, 12pm
Where: Lodge at Torrey Pines, 11480 N. Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla 92037
What: Wrap up San Diego Beer Week on the beautiful Arroyo Terrace. Beer Garden brings together the best of San Diego’s breweries and chefs to celebrate the thriving craft beer movement in America’s Finest City. Tickets are $75 and include food, beer pairings, valet parking, tax, and gratuity. Room packages, which include 2 event tickets ($150 value), are also available starting at only $375 per night. Participating breweries include Ballast Point, Stone, Karl Strauss, Mother Earth, Green Flash, Monkey Paw, and more!

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! opens Saturday, Nov 15 at the Old Globe Theatre.
