San Diego Beer Week is coming to a close with a Beer Garden at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, Escondido is sponsoring a day-long tamale festival, and the San Diego Bay Food & Wine Festival – all this weekend! Check out our top five San Diego weekend events here. As always, please be sure to check ticket* availability prior to attending any event.

San Diego Early Music Society Presents “amarcord: Restless Love”

When: Friday Nov 13, 7:30pm-9:30pm
Where: St. James-by-the-Sea; 743 Prospect Street, La Jolla 92037
What: From the madrigals of the sixteenth century, through romantic part songs by Mendelssohn and Schumann, to a selection of international folksongs, amarcord, founded in 1992 and comprised of five former Thomaskirche choir members, deliver a varied and exciting program.  amarcord’s hallmarks include a unique tone, breathtaking homogeneity, musical authenticity, and a good dose of charm and humor.

Escondido Tamale Festival

When: Saturday Nov 14, 10:30am-4:30pm
Where: Grape Day Park; 321 N. Broadway; Escondido 92025
What: The Escondido Tamale Festival is a celebration of Tamales and all the great Latin foods that have become iconic staples of California’s culture. The event will feature local celebrity chef judges Chef Claudia Sandoval, winner of MasterChef Season 6 and Executive Chef James Montejano from La Jolla’s very own La Valencia Hotel. There will be live music, tamale contests, and even a chihuahua costume contest. Admission is free.

San Diego Bay Food & Wine Festival

When: Sunday Nov 15 – Sunday Nov 22
Where: Embarcadero Marina Park North
What: Food, wine, and local enthusiasts can expect to see exciting new additions throughout the week as well as the return of festival classics such as the iconic Grand Tasting and signature Taco TKO Fish Taco Competition. The San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival is an international showcase of the world’s premier wines and spirits, chefs and culinary personalities, and gourmet foods. Over 100 city-wide events, wine and cooking classes, chef dinners, and multiple tasting events throughout the week.

Beer Garden at The Lodge

When: Sunday Nov 15, 12pm-3pm
Where: The Lodge at Torrey Pines; 11480 North Torrey Pines Rd., La Jolla 92037
What: What better setting for the closing event of SDBW than the Arroyo Terrace of the Lodge at Torrey Pines? With 24 breweries and 12 chefs, Beer Garden is a truly unique and delicious beer and food pairing event. Each admission includes unlimited tasters of beer and food. The event benefits Chef Celebration Foundation and San Diego Brewers Guild. Tickets are $75 and include food, beer pairings, valet parking, tax, and gratuity.

Silver Strand Half Marathon, 10 Miler & Veterans Day 5K

When: Sunday Nov 15, 7am-11:30am
Where: Sunset Park; 101 Ocean Blvd., Coronado 92118
What: Celebrate Veterans Day Weekend and support Challenged Athletes Foundation – Operation Rebound, helping our wounded soldiers and first responders from the front lines to the finish line! The 16th Annual Silver Strand Half Marathon & 5K is the only Run with the waves of the Pacific Ocean on your right and the San Diego Bay on your left, finishing with a California Beach Party. Run along the “Silver Strand,” from Coronado to Imperial Beach!
