A secret garden tour, a taco fest, and a festival of art, craft beer, and food in North Park – this weekend is packed with great San Diego weekend events. Get out those calendars and start planning with our weekend guide!
When: Saturday May 16, 11am-6pm
Where: University Avenue & 30th Street, San Diego 92104
What: This annual free festival has grown into a local tradition that includes amazing local art, exciting live music and dance performances, eco-friendly activities, vendor booths and fabulous food. There will be something for everyone, including the kids. Come thirsty to the Craft Beer Block and sample brews from San Diego’s favorite breweries, or sip a full pour of beer at one of our two Beer Gardens.
When: Saturday May 16, 10am
Where: Wisteria Cottage; 780 Prospect St., La Jolla 92037
What: The La Jolla Historical Society has been hosting the Secret Garden Tour every May since 1998, when it began with a simple goal: to raise awareness for the Historical Society and promote a sense of cultural preservation. What started as a way to get the community of La Jolla interested in preservation has grown into a treasured and consistently sold-out annual event. Explore a side of La Jolla that’s normally hidden from the public eye and discover a handful of botanical gems on May 16!
When: Saturday May 16, 9am-2pm
Where: Mission Trails Regional Park; One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego 92119
What: Enjoy free guided nature walks, talks and programs throughout the park, including live animals and special programs for children. There will also be free pony rides, a climbing wall, crafts for children, and many Discovery Stations at the East Fortuna Staging Area. There will be hamburgers, veggieburgers, hotdogs and refreshments being served.
When: Saturday May 16, 1pm-4pm
Where: Golden Hill Park; 2590-2596 Golden Hill Dr., San Diego 92102
What: Join us in our search to find the best taco in San Diego at the 1st Annual Reader Tacotopia at Golden Hill Park! Try signature tacos from more than 30 of San Diego’s best restaurants as they compete to win the “San Diego’s Best Taco” award. This event brings together the very best taco vendors in town – and you decide ultimately wins. Each attendee will be given a token to place in a voting box on the table of their favorite vendor; the vendor who receives the most tokens wins.
When: Sunday May 17, 1pm-4pm
Where: SILO in Makers Quarter; 753 15th St., San Diego 92101
What: Brew Rendezvous is a food, farm, and craft beer pairing event celebrating the unique role of craft brewers, local growers, and restaurateurs in cultivating community and health. Your ticket includes gourmet tastings prepared by San Diego’s top chefs featuring local farm products paired with local craft beers. There will be fun games, live music and raffle drawings.
