Live music and a beer festival at the Embarcadero, the Latino Film Festival, and the beginnings of St. Patrick’s Day (coming up on March 17) festivities are just a few upcoming San Diego weekend events. What: The 23rd SDLFF, presented by Fashion Valley, returns March 10 – March 20th with over 165 films, parties, filmmaker workshops and more! See Latino-made films from all over the world including the latest from the likes of Gael Garcia Bernal, Salma Hayek, Rosario Dawson, and Jaime Camil. Since its inception in 1994, the festival has continued to grow and diversify, constantly adding new showcases and film programs, and is now one of its largest of its kind in the country.

Where: Embarcadero Marina Park; 200 Marina Park Way, San Diego 92101
What: This Saturday, the Embarcadero will once again be host to Best Coast Beer Fest – Will Ferrell’s beer festival of choice! The festival benefits Cancer for College, a nonprofit that provides cancer patients and survivors with college scholarships.The festival will offer guests the opportunity to sample and learn about more than 200 beers from more than 80 craft breweries. Guests will also experience local cuisine, bands and the evening session (5-8pm) will feature a movie screening.
When: Sat March 12, 9am-6pm
Where: Balboa Park; between 6th Street and Laurel
What: Come experience the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade west of the Mississippi! Join over 30,000 attendees at Balboa Park’s annual celebration featuring a parade with over 125 entries, more than 75 food/craft booths, a beer garden, two band stages, and a Celtic village. The Kids Zone has a band stage featuring young performers and traditional Irish music, carnival rides and crafts. The festival grounds open at 9am and the parade steps off at 10:30am.

What: For those who love the works of Shakespeare, his sonnets and his plays, the ever-popular Baltimore Consort is offering a festive celebration of his songs, marking the 400th anniversary of the death of the bard. Titled “The Food of Love: Songs for Shakespeare,” this will be a fascinating program of sixteenth century English music, showcasing popular songs and music referenced in Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Midsummer’s Night’s Dream’ and ‘As You Like It’.
When: Sun March 13, 7am-1pm
Where: Petco Park; 100 Park Blvd., San Diego
What: The San Diego Half Marathon has been designed to carry runners over a spectacular 13.1-mile USATF-certified course, while showcasing one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The signature scenic route begins at Petco Park and winds through downtown to Harbor Drive with views of San Diego Bay, San Diego’s skyline, Spanish Landing and Cancer Survivor Park. The finish line features a big Gaslamp block party and a live jumbotron.
