The weekend is finally here! Opening day at the 2016 San Diego County Fair, Balboa Park After Dark, and a bunch of other great things are happening around town. Check out our top six San Diego weekend events right here.

What: Mad HatterWe will make this year’s Fair into a grand-scale tea party featuring the renowned Lewis Carroll classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, fused with influences from steampunk, cosplay, great literature, whacky machinery, and all the fun and magic you’ve come to expect. Get ready for outlandish landscapes, crazy rides, unique foods, fabulous festivals and enthralling entertainment!

Where: Observatory North Park; 2891 University Ave., San Diego
What: FilmOut San Diego’s 18th Annual LGBT Film Festival returns this weekend! Over thirty films will be screened during the three-day film festival. Eighteen films will premiere, along with award-winning films from both the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals, a number of independent features, and a variety of short films. Q&A’s will follow many films with director and cast members in attendance. See website for screening schedule.

Where: Balboa Park, San Diego
What: Every Friday, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, enjoy extended evening hours until 8pm at nine museums along with food trucks and entertainment throughout the Park (on select dates). Participating museums include the San Diego Museum of Man, Natural History Museum, and the San Diego Museum of Art – to name a few!

Where: Adams Avenue; San Diego, 92116

Where: 6th Ave & Quince Street, San Diego
What: One of San Diego’s favorite (and the most fun) marathons happens this weekend! The 26.2 mile marathon and 13.1 mile half-marathon features live music lining the streets, cheer squads, and a huge post-marathon concert to end the race with a bang. Join more than 20,000 runners and 100,000 enthusiastic spectators for a music-filled run through San Diego.

What: A day of music by the beach! Head to Oceanside to see 7 bands for just $25. The lineup includes Awolnation, Jake Bugg, The Wombats, and more. Presented by FM 94/9 in San Diego; General Admission tickets can still be purchased at fm949sd.com.
