Another beautiful weekend is headed to San Diego! From an adorable surf dog competition in Imperial Beach to a festival celebrating Baja California and an outdoor film in Balboa Park, there is plenty to keep you busy – check out our San Diego weekend events list for all the info. What: It’s time for the most adorable surf event of the year! At the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition, the most fearless dogs will jump on their boards, paddle out and hang 20! Enter your dog in the surf competition or just come take in all the fun under the sun. Other activities throughout the day include a dog food garden, kid zone, a beginner’s agility course, beer garden, food trucks, dog adoptions, and an off-leash play area.

What: Experience the 51st annual Oz convention! Celebrate L Frank Baum, the Wizard of Oz’s original creator, and everything Oz! OzCon 2015 will feature Oz quizzes for all ages and levels, an Oz Treasure Hunt, the Oz Research Table, Oz Show and Tell where guests can share their rare Oz discoveries, panel discussions, displays, and super after-parties. Dress as your favorite Oz-related character for the Costume Contest and win $100 for Best Costume!

Where: Embarcadero Marina Park North; 500 Kettner Blvd., San Diego 92101
What: Experience the culinary and cultural heritage of Baja California! The event will exhibit nine aisles, five of them will be represented by each city of Baja California: Tijuana, Tecate, Ensenada, Rosarito and Mexicali; each city will promote its main cuisine, hotels, museums, and recreational spaces. The sixth area will display Baja’s variety of wine, vineyards and beer, and there will be artistic and musical programs as well.

What: Pucker up for the sweetest sour event of the year. The Third Avenue Village Association’s 19th annual Lemon Festival returns to Chula Vista’s original neighborhood on Sunday, August 2. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Third Avenue from E to G Streets, celebrate Chula Vista’s reign as the Lemon Capital of the World with live bands, hundreds of vendor booths, a Festival Fun Zone and everything lemon. There will also be a craft beer garden at Memorial Park where visitors can enjoy a custom tasting flight!

What: The San Diego Museum of Art presents Films in the Garden all summer! Perfectly capturing the magical atmosphere of 1950s Coney Island, The Little Fugitive (1953, not rated) is a charming adventure story told from the perspective of a seven-year-old boy who takes refuge there. Enjoy the movie under the stars in the May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden – grab a blanket, bring a few friends and be sure to arrive early for a good seat on the lawn! Panama 66 will be open to serve you from their menu, including a full bar.
