San Diego Weekend Events | July 29 – 31

Another beautiful (and warm) weekend is upon is in San Diego! From La Jolla’s annual Fashion Film Festival to a surf dog competition, there’s something for everyone – not to mention a bunch of ways to enjoy the outdoors. Here are our top five San Diego weekend events (remember to always check for ticket availability prior to attending).

La Jolla Fashion Film Festival

When: Fri July 29 & Sat July 30
Where: MCASD La Jolla; 700 Prospect Street, La Jolla
What: La Jolla will once again be the venue for the “Cannes of the fashion film world” and the world’s largest gathering of fashion filmmakers! Hundreds of fashion filmmakers from around the world will be in attendance, showcasing the top 1% of fashion films. Guests will be able to network, attend seminars & panels, screen films, go to press receptions, participate in After Parties, and win awards. Get a glimpse of what’s trending in the minds of the world’s top fashion houses, designers, and stylists interpreted through the lens of their filmmaking counterparts.

Unleashed! by Petco Surf Dog Competition

When: Saturday July 30; 8:30am-2:15pm
Where: Imperial Beach Pier; Portwood Plaza, 10 Evergreen Ave, Imperial Beach 91932
What: It’s time for the most adorable surf event of the year! At the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition, the most fearless dogs will jump on their boards, paddle out and hang 20. Enter your dog in the surf competition or just come take in all the fun under the sun – in addition to surfing, there will be a huge dog food garden (complete with food and treat samples), a kids zone, beginners’ agility course, photo and video booths, a dog adoption area, an off-leash play area, and a beer garden and food trucks.

Live Well San Diego 5k

When: Saturday July 30; 8am
Where: San Diego County Waterfront Park; 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego 92101
What:  is a family and pet friendly event that goes beyond the 5k to include interactive booths and entertainment for all ages. Participants who register to be a part of the 5K run/walk will not only have the opportunity to walk/run along the Embarcadero and downtown San Diego, but will also receive a commemorative Live Well San Diego 5K t-shirt, race gift bag, participant medal, and access to post-race activities.

San Diego Beer & Music Festival

When: Saturday July 30; 7pm-10pm
Where: NTC Liberty Station (Ingram Plaza); 2751 Dewey Rd.
What: The FM94/9 San Diego Beer and Music Festival will celebrate craft beer and live music this weekend. Guests will enjoy unlimited samples of more than 100 craft beers from local and regional breweries. The main stage will feature a concert by this year’s headliners, Hawthorne Heights. Tickets start at $35 and proceeds will benefit the San Diego nonprofit, Chef Celebration Foundation.

Sip & Spin: A Group Ride and Get-Together

When: Saturday July 30; 5pm-8:30pm
Where: San Diego Museum of Man
What: Bring your bike or trike and join us in decorating our wheels, taking a ride through the park, and celebrating at an after-party in the museum’s rotunda. Plus, we’ll all prepare bike-safety kits for homeless bike riders to benefit the San Diego Rescue Mission. Tickets are just $10 for Museum Members, and include museum entrance, decorating materials, bike valet parking, after-party, and one free drink ticket for guests who are 21+.
