From the largest women’s surfing competition in the world to La Jolla’s very own Fashion Film Festival, there’s an awesome variety of activities happening in San Diego this weekend. Where: MCASD La Jolla; 700 Prospect St., La Jolla 92037
What: Hundreds of fashion filmmakers from around the world will be in attendance for the 6th annual “Cannes of Fashion Film.” Network, attend seminars & panels, screen films, attend fashionable After Parties, and watch award ceremonies. Curated from the dynamic and the exploding world of fashion film, these films are a glimpse of what’s trending in the minds of the world’s top fashion houses, designers, and stylists interpreted through the lens of their filmmaking counterparts.

Where: Oceanside Pier; N. Pacific Street, Oceanside 92054
What: Join thousands of fans to watch the world’s best female surfers compete and be a part of the Supergirl Pro Festival Village! More than 100 Pro Surfers make up the largest female contest in the world, including reigning Supergirl champ Sage Erickson. Check out gourmet food trucks, live concerts, a beer garden with a lounge area live-streaming the contest, half-pipe skateboarding exhibitions from X Games pros, the Supergirl Surf Film Fest, and more.

Where: Chicano Park; 1949 Logan Avenue, San Diego 92113
What: The largest community-driven family festival in San Diego County, the 10th Annual Fiesta del Sol is a two-day street festival celebrating the history, diverse cultures, and civic engagement of the people of San Diego. It’s a fun, family-friendly event focused on creating positive change by empowering communities. Fiesta del Sol includes an entertainment stage, a multi-cultural food court, four community pavilions, and over one hundred booths sponsored by local small businesses.

When: Saturday July 25, 2pm-5pm
Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds; 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar 92014
What: Beer aficionados will enjoy the opportunity to sample from more than 100 different brews, including hard-to-find specialty choices to top-rated favorites from the local brewing scene. Brewery Participants include Ballast Point, Green Flash, Duck Foot Brewing, Mike Hess Brewing, Coronado, Stone, Pizza Port and many more. DJs will be playing music throughout the day, and several gourmet food trucks will be present.
When: Saturday July 25 & Sunday July 26, 10am-4pm
Where: San Diego Botanic Garden; 230 Quail Gardens Dr., Encinitas 92024
What: This one-of-a-kind event features thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, lizards, snakes, and the famous Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Children can practice bug collecting, and hands-on insect arts and crafts. Entomologists and other bug experts will be available for questions and more than 20 informational booths will teach and entertain children and adults alike.
When: Saturday July 25, 12pm-4pm; Pancake Breakfast: 7:30am-11:30am
Where: La Jolla Rec Center; 615 Prospect St., La Jolla 92037
What: The La Jolla Rec Center turns 100 years old this month! Start off the day with the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla Pancake Breakfast at 7:30am at the Rec Center, followed by a bunch of family-friendly activities including a BBQ, pony rides, arts and crafts, bounce house, face painters, puppet show, gymnastics and dance shows. A ceremony with keynote speakers will kickoff the celebration, and a newly engraved plaque will memorialize the centennial in a post-festivity presentation.
