What: One of the biggest events that thousands of fans look forward to every year in San Diego, Comic-Con 2016 is no exception! Along with panels, seminars, and workshops with comic book professionals, there are previews of upcoming feature films, portfolio review sessions with top comic book and video game companies, and such evening events as awards ceremonies and the Masquerade; a costume contest, and the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival. Where: San Diego County Waterfront Park
What: Waterfront Park transforms into a Craft Beer Comic Book this weekend! 100+ craft beers from over 40 breweries, the Caped Crusader Costume Contest, music, dancing, and craft beer fest vendors combine forces to form an unrivaled San Diego beer fest experience! Heroes Brew Fest is also the only San Diego beer fest that benefits the 100% volunteer organization the Warrior Foundation – Freedom Station. GA Tickets are $49.

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds
What: Bring your appetite for the tastiest food on wheels when the 6th annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival comes to Del Mar. Enjoy a variety of some of the hottest eats in Southern California as 40 food trucks are expected, all in one location, with gourmet chefs serving their eclectic bests at awesome prices (most items $6-$10). Pair your food items with several cold brews on tap in the Craft Beer Festival, featuring over 100 craft brews!

Where: San Diego Botanic Garden; 230 Quail Gardens Dr., Encinitas
What: This one-of-a-kind event features thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, lizards, snakes, and the famous “Madagascar hissing cockroaches”! Children can practice bug collecting, hands-on insect arts and crafts, and even taste cooked mealworm larva (in various flavors such as mesquite, teriyaki, and even barbecue!). Entomologists and other bug experts will be available for questions and more than 20 informational booths will teach and entertain children and adults alike.

Where: Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery La Jolla
What: Meet artist Joshua Smith at the opening reception for his newest collection of original oil paintings. The collection is titled “Illumination in Harmony.” The Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery is a fantastic gallery in the heart of La Jolla and is always filled with interesting sculptures, abstract paintings, and limited edition works from international artists. Don’t miss this opportunity!
