What: One of the most important weekends of the year for golf fans, the San Diego leg of the PGA tour will once again be held at Torrey Pines Golf Course right here in La Jolla. Opening Day activities begin with a ceremony at 8:15am on Thursday and continue through the weekend with several rounds of pro golf. What: Scheduled January 29-31, the Qualcomm Lunar New Year Festival attracts over 30,000 guests from across San Diego County and offers a fusion of Asian food stations, unique vendor booths, carnival rides, non-stop live entertainment as well as a highly acclaimed “Cultural Village” featuring artistic reconstructions of iconic sculptures and landscapes from across South East Asia. Celebrate the Year of the Monkey in style!

Where: Reading Cinema Gaslamp; 701 5th Ave, San Diego 92101
What: With an official motto of “Spotlight on African American & African Diaspora Cinema,” the SDBFF screens more than 100 films each year from several categories: Comedy, Drama, Documentaries, Animation, GLBT, Horror, Foreign/African Diaspora, Shorts, and Feature Films. As the first and largest black film festival of the year, the San Diego Black Film Festival premieres a large percentage of independent films that will prove successful throughout the year at other film festivals.

Where: 400 Carlsbad Village Dr., Carlsbad 92008
What: Carlsbad celebrates winter! Enjoy a fun-filled day with a 40-by-80-foot skating rink, inflatable bounce houses, arts and crafts, and other fun, family-friendly activities. The majority of the event will be held at the Roosevelt Street parking lot between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue. It runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
