san diego weekend eventsIt’s going to be a hot weekend in San Diego! Hang out in the shade at one of these outdoor events happening this weekend – from a Latin food fest at Port Pavilion to a stargazing festival in Julian, there are a ton of options. Julian StarFest

When: Friday, August 13 – Sunday, August 15
Where: Menghini Winery; 1150 Julian Orchards Dr, Julian 92036
What: Julian StarFest, a three-day festival focused around the field of astronomy, will occur in the mountain town of Julian. Julian is known for its clear dark skies and is one of the best locations in Southern California for observing; the festival will include a free public Star Party on Saturday night, astronomy related exhibition areas, guest speakers presenting on astronomy related subjects, a swap meet and a raffle with some great astronomy prizes.

Latin Food Fest

When: Saturday August 15 & Sunday August 16
Where: Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier; 1000 N Harbor Drive, San Diego 92101
What: Once again, ¡Latin Food Fest! San Diego brings together chefs, brands and consumers to provide a variety of culinary experiences along with demonstrations and tasting tents. Participating eateries include Agave Del Mar, Cafe Sevilla, Cafe Secret, Fogo de Chao, Tacos Kokopeli, Aqui es Texcoco, Sirena Seafood, Cien Anos, Uptown Tavern, Indigo Grill, Don Chido, The Hopping Pig, Peohe’s, Mario Medina, Puesto, Tacos Perla, West Coast Tavern, and more. 

ArtWalk NTC @ Liberty Station

When: Saturday August 15 & Sunday August 16
Where: NTC Liberty Station; 2640 Historic Decatur Rd., San Diego 92106
What: Experience art al fresco! This year’s fine art festival will feature more than 100 artists, a dozen musical performers, gourmet food and interactive kids’ activities at KidsWalk. Attendees will be able to purchase artwork directly from some of the finest artists in the region, meet with artists, and hear what inspires them about their work. Stone Anniversary Celebration & Beer Festival

When: Saturday August 15, 11am-6pm
Where: Cal State San Marcos; 333 South Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos 92096

Gourmet Food Truck Festival

When: Saturday August 15, 12pm-6pm
Where: 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar 92014
What: Bring your appetite for the tastiest food on wheels when the 5th annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival comes to Del Mar. Enjoy a variety of some of the hottest eats in Southern California as 50 food trucks are expected, all in one location, with gourmet chefs serving their eclectic bests at great prices (most items $4-$8). Participating trucks include fan favorites such as The Grilled Cheese Truck, Cousins Maine Lobster, The Lime Truck, The Lobsta Truck, and Devilicious!
